Sooooo gorgeous. 72 degrees in Hackettstown.

This is only the 12th time in 150 years of record-keeping that the temperature has hit 70° or above in the month of February in New York City. The problem is we also did it last year. It may be nice out, at least to some people, but this is just not normal. It may be the new normal but it's not healthy and it actually scares me when you think about it. Where does it end?

To put it into perspective it's 74° right now in Central Park. The average high temperature doesn't hit 74 in Central Park until May 26. And of course that's using the inflated averages from 1981 to 2010 when we were already warming up. Really makes you think.

From record cold to record heat it's 75* I am actually wearing a tee shirt SMH.i can't wait to see what happens next

Unoffically yeah, esp in NJ. Offically Newark and Teterboro is 79 so maybe there.

THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of
3 to 5 inches and ice accumulations of a coating to one tenth of
an inch are expected. Local snow accumulations up to 6 inches
are possible.

* WHERE...In Pennsylvania, Bradford County. In New York, Yates,
Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Cortland, Chenango,
Otsego, Tioga, Broome and Delaware Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 AM to 6 PM EST Thursday. The heaviest period of
snow is expected from about 10 AM to 3 PM. Snow could fall at
rates nearing 1 inch per hour during this time.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The snow and ice will result in difficult
travel conditions on Thursday. Be prepared for reduced
visibilities at times.

78* at LGA and 79* at Newark and north West of us there is a wwa lol

Warmest February ever recorded it's 78 degrees in Central Park and in Newark they just went up to 80 degrees I cannot wait to see what March is going to offer us if we have any more winter weather left I guess the groundhog in Staten Island was right for predicting a early spring

68.2 here on the island today. Didn’t quite crack 70. Expecting rain and sleet tmw. Crazy!

at one point i saw 75 today don't know if it went higher that was around 2pm

...Warmest February Day On Record...

In addition to setting new daily record highs for February 21st,
three of our six climate sites achieved their warmest February day
on record.

Central Park, NY...The high of 78 degrees today sets a new daily
record high temperature, breaking the previous record of 68
degrees set in 1930. In addition, this sets a new record high
temperature for the month of February, breaking the previous
record of 75 last set on February 24, 1985. This is also the
warmest it has ever been this early in the year. Previously, the
earliest it reached at least 78 degrees in Central Park was on
March 10, 2016 when the temperature rose to 79 degrees.

LaGuardia, NY...The high of 79 degrees today sets a new daily
record high temperature, breaking the previous record of 68
degrees set in 1953. In addition, this sets a new record high
temperature for the month of February, breaking the previous
record of 74 set on February 15, 1949. This is also the warmest it
has ever been this early in the year. Previously, the earliest it
reached at least 79 degrees at LaGuardia was on March 13, 1990
when the temperature rose to 83 degrees.

Newark, NJ...The high of 80 degrees today sets a new daily record
high temperature, breaking the previous record of 69 degrees set
in 1953. In addition, this sets a new record high temperature for
the month of February, breaking the previous record of 76, set on
February 15, 1949. This is also the warmest it has ever been this
early in the year. Previously, the earliest it reached at least 80
degrees in Newark was on March 9, 2016 when the temperature rose
to 82 degrees.

Hit 79.7° today here, oh so close! Showers now at 66°.

the high today in Central Park was 78. Using the already inflated averages from 1981-2010 the first day the average high temperature hits 78 in NYC is JUNE 14!!!!!

Am I the only one that finds this more than a little unerving?

62* and raining with a stiff north breeze. Temp has dropped 18 degrees in 4 hours. The warmth is in retreat.

Teterboro official high was 83. Had 87 on my car dashboard in Hackensack

@ CP and everyone, the high temp is no good for trees when it goes back into cold. I looked. I have no crocuses coming up. Anyone see forsythia in bloom yet? It was 75 here but in the sun, it felt like 85. Very warm today.

Last night I had the windows open and celling fan on . to make it more worse it's going to rain from today till Sunday what a worse Feb

Hit 76 yesterday and today expecting about and inch of snow and sleet with temps in the 30's.

just raining here, i think its too warm for any sleet.

Models are hinting at sleet and freezing rain N&W of NYC this afternoon into the evening
