Re: February Observations and Discussions
Temperature are dropping down to 43 degrees it got quite windy earlier before. I can I believe we are going to see some snow tomorrow night and then back to mild to possibly warm week starting on Tuesday till Thursday temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s it's February whatever happened to our snow storms and whatever happened to our pattern change

Re: February Observations and Discussions
If we get measurable snow tomorrow night, then the period from January 18th through February 18th , 31 days of well above normal temperatures I will have had three measurable snow events. We are in an era where it just wants to snow especially the last 7 years but you can take this back to 2000.syosnow94 wrote:.31" of rain overnight and this morning. I think most of us have gotten spoiled with this sudden surge of snow James do you remember the period from 97 through 99 or the 1980s. We now expect a six inch snowfall every winter and a foot or more are now common. that was unheard of 20 + years ago. As far as the pattern change delayed but not denied the next threat looks to be February 26th give or take a day and then look for another snow storm in early March. I've moved past temperature departures as we are in a warm climate. it's all about snowfall and we have been getting a lot of that the last 18 years

Re: February Observations and Discussions
Great post Al and if you guys can't see that we are in a torch pattern we are getting abother snowstorm then you need to recheck tings cause this doesn't happen.
Spring will.be here this week and then we go back to winter with a monster NAO and pac recuperating from the N PNA withe wave breaks I posted in the LR.
Possibility of a big storm as the massive NAO relaxes which is an Archimbault effect

Al I get your post. It makes sense. I absolutely remember those years and agree we have been beyond blesssed the last 10 years. I have no rational complaint about the snow. I’m already at normal for an entire season. My problem is I love cold weather. I don’t rather half the snow as long a snow it was cold and stuck around. I hate this warmth and then snow that melts in a day. With tons of rain. I’ve seen a half dozen rain events in a two week span in the dead of winter that was forecast by all to be cold and snowy. Frustrating. If you say so though guys get offended.

I'm the opposite of you. Love the snow, hate the cold. I like when it sticks around tho like that amazing snowpack of 2010-2011. However temps weren't all that cold if I remember right. Like for example this December was brutal for me, everything getting numb after 15-30 seconds outside, too much!

43* with a moderate rain falling. Shower should move out in the next hour or so. Tonight will be one of those rare occurrences where the temperature will actually keep rising the whole night and through tomorrow afternoon. Should be up to 46 by midnight, 50 by dawn and 60 by noon tomorrow.

There will be rain in the forecast every day from today through Sunday. Eeeek talk about a wet period. We have been unlucky with the weather on the weekends.

Sneaky cold HP to the North, no one really knows about this. To much humping Global models like gfs and euro for this one IMO. NAM has been on fire lately!!

Re: February Observations and Discussions
This is only the 12th time in 150 years of record-keeping that the temperature has hit 70° or above in the month of February in New York City. The problem is we also did it last year. It may be nice out, at least to some people, but this is just not normal. It may be the new normal but it's not healthy and it actually scares me when you think about it. Where does it end?
To put it into perspective it's 74° right now in Central Park. The average high temperature doesn't hit 74 in Central Park until May 26. And of course that's using the inflated averages from 1981 to 2010 when we were already warming up. Really makes you think.
