The axis of that pivot looks great. i'd assume as the low lifts north, that pivot will be into LI, NYC, and NNJ correct?

If we had none of this we'd have almost a foot by now!!!
Light snow here since about 4pm.
Hey mugs, if that heavy band still offshore doesn't make it, I'll meet you for drinks somewhere...Finnegan's closed early.

The only thing that would annoy me more than the dry slotting if I were in that area is that some jerk built a building in the way of that radar beam.
I remembered your post but forgot it was a water tower. Even more angry. That should be easy to move. And who needs water? It’s an island. Surrounded by water.

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
Based on posts and radar I have a feeling when all is said and done either A. Everyone will end up around the same snowfall totals but will have received them at completely different times of day; or
B.) there will be no rhyme or reason to the totals which if plotted on a map will look like a Rorschach Test.

Upton:
NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THURSDAY MORNING/...
Total snow accumulations have been lowered across the area, but
Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect for all but Orange and
Putnam Counties where it`s likely widespread totals will fall
short of warning criteria.
Upper level low swings southeast of Long Island, taking a
position well SE of Nantucket and Martha`s Vineyard by early
Thursday. A surface low will deepen 3-5 mb this evening as it
passes southeast of the 40N/70W benchmark. Banding of snow is
currently occurring just west of a 700 mb trough. Based on
latest trends it appears this will reach a good portion of LI
into the city where snowfall rates of 1-2 inches are possible.
Warm nose still hanging around over the easternmost areas of the
tri-state area should erode further, so even these areas will
see mainly snow within an hour or two.
Still have gusty winds in the forecast as well with the
deepening of the low and the increase of the pressure gradient.
Temperatures drop off a few degrees from where they are early
this evening.

The radar and the window actually match now, that 10" forecast is actually looking good right now.

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
I hope those 1-2 inch per hr bands can make it just north of the city too so I can at least get above 6. 9 more inches according to that map? I find that hard to believe as thats double what I saw all day. We will see.aiannone wrote:Upton:

Heavy snow now
NYC has a great chance of getting 12 inches with the bands rolling through.

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
Not trying to get into it now, and maybe it’s the teacher in me, but I’d very much be interested in a post mortem of sorts regarding this storm if enough smart people have time and other learners like me are interested. When it’s all said and done. It’s just how I learn best. If not, no big deal. Thanks!
P.S. - 5 inches in Clifton, NJ over 11 hours of snow.

It's ripping snow FINALLY here in White Plains, although it's odd; radar doesn't show it as heavy as it actually is on the ground.
