Barnegat, NJ in southern ocean county along the coast is a strong gusty wind, heavy rain all day long. Friends up north enjoy your white gold.....Hopefully I can join you sometime in December.

snow was very dry didn't really cling to treesjmanley32 wrote:Interesting lots more trees up here and no tree damage, wind is very gusty now too.Math23x7 wrote:Quite an event to say the lease. I went to Central Park after work to measure the snow. My battery on my phone went out so I couldn’t see what the Conservancy had until I got back to my apartment. I measured near the turtle pond about an hour ago like I did last April as it was untouched. It was sleeting and I picked up a measurement of just over 6 inches. As it turns out the 6:20 PM measurement was at 6”. So my measurement seems consistent with what they have. I wonder if they’ll add on the sleet that happened after 6:20. Also, my block here on the Upper East Side has plenty of down tree limbs. Gives flashbacks to those early season snowstorms in 2011 and 2012.

In the NY Post website, take a look at the photo of the people at the Port Authority bus terminal. Cattle call.

Its crazy. I ended up walking about 3 miles after every train was going nowhere and bus service is basically canceled. What you see on Mclean is basically all major streets. Plus add lots of stranded buses. People are sleepin on that freezing rain. Alot or sleet/rain mix wit temps in the upper 20s, only now approaching freezing mark. 6.7" snow plus about half inch sleet.

8.5 inches as of 8:45 pm with snow and sleet.
It will be interesting to see if we can crack 10.
The pros didn't seem to trust the models much on this one. I'm sure they'll rethink that. They left a lot of road crews in the urban areas with their thumbs up their asses. Pardon the French.

I know someone from work who has a 25 minute commute that took almost 4 hours to get home. That is actually not an isolated incident. Many reports of people stranded on NJ highways and people abandoning cars and walking. Not a good situation.

After a very long day I'm finally unwinding on my recliner. What's normally a 20 minute commute, it took nearly 3 hours. When I got home I measured 6.5''. Great storm!

A friend of mine is trying to get home from Brooklyn, normally an hour commute, he has been in the car 6.5 hours and still not in NJ!

Yup. I just got home because I had to go to Poughkeepsie train station to help my daughter who got stuck trying to get up a hill. The roads are a disaster. The cop said that there are thousands of incidents around the county.

Less trees with leaves still by you I assume, especially green leaves. Still a decent amount of trees full of green leaves, especially in Manhattan and the more urban neighborhoods throughout NYC in general.

Re: First Wintry Event - 11/15 to 11/16
The fact NYC decision makers could not follow the short range models this morning and do some last minute preparations is absurd. They had a 6-8 hour heads up. Shoot if we knew it was gonna bust high why couldn’t they.
Plus the fact that 4-6” of snow cripples a city is embarrassing. Our society is a disgrace. We are so soft and helpless it’s incredible. I’m ashamed. Lets let even more clueless folks in here for Pete’s sake. What a joke

It was on the NWS New York’s latest snow totals. That’s all I am saying.

Once again it looks like living in the snow donut of the universe will cause a storm to under perform. First a dry slot and now a change to what sounds like sleet. It might end up dropping 6-8 which is a very good storm especially for this time of year, but I can't help but feel a little disappointed.

Lots of reports of a foot in Orange County but 17 seems pretty high. But if they were under a persistent band who knows. There were 4 inch per hour rates in northern orange for a couple of hours so it’s possible.
