To all giving Mikey Props for “nailing the pattern”. Him nailing the pattern is like the sun shining on a dogs ass. It’s bound to happen once in awhile. The only thing he deserves credit for is stating somewhat of the obvious. Yes if the MJO didn’t get out of the warm phases the pattern would be in trouble. That’s like saying if the king had tits he’d be queen. Now a days that totally plausible. And I have no problem with that if that’s your choice.

LOL, I have seen enough two for a nickle 4 to 6 inch events since 1960 and .although nice to see, pale in comparison to the 27 inch snowstorm we had last march up here in the HV.At my age of 68, I'm rounding the 3/4 turn and want to see as many 20 plus inch snowstorms as I can.If that means option 2 every other year after a prior year of 4 to 6 inchers with constant snowpack, so be it,LOL.Of course , the most ideal winters are ones like 1960-1961 and 1995-1996 featuring extended snowpack, many 4 to 6 inch storms and a huge 20 plus inch snowstorm/blizzard.Unfortunately, billg did not include that as option 3 and I am totally surprised that the ones screaming "warmacist" did not mention the most desirable winter option! Tsk TskTsk....

I’m offended. As someone considering gender reassignment surgery myself I’m officially triggered
On a separate note I stopped by the bar that Bill Janet and Alex were in. I said a quick hello with my family in tow. Three hours and they are still at it. Wish I could have stayed for a few. Oh well

You’re a sick man Doc. Truly sick
How about the winter of 95/96. 17 events of 3” or more and a blockbuster 24” blizzard all in the same winter. The gold standard.

But Doc you blended options 1 & 2 into your own option.
Billg's premise was it's one or the other every year, thus my case that anyone that takes option 2, and Syos agrees, is not a winter lover.
We could ask Billg for verification, but by the looks of the bar bill I doubt he'd understand the question right now.

BTW- When is someone deleting Mikey's Poll from December 15th, which is what originally put the hex on this pattern? Time is a wasting.

I say we tar and feather Math the warmiccist. I’m truly shocked In the turn Doc has taken the last week. First he ends OTI. Now He’s Picking 1 or 2 events over months of cold and snow. It may be time for an intervention

I posted this in the LR thread. He only stated his concern as he usually does fir long stretch of torch, and warmth, wasn't quite that IMO. AN temp were more at night here.
Anyway, even the great Jr and Isothermal admit test to not seeing this MJO CYCLE destructive interference as it wrecked havoc and has spent 12 days in phase 5, normal waves spend 3-4 days in a phase this spent 3x that causing us to lose our sht!!

I was hoping that this year would rival 95-96 when the long range looked so positive weeks ago but the MJO ruined the MOJO and that chance is now gone.Maybe my Snowchyatrist can figure out the sub conscious manifestations of this terrible disappointment, who knows.
I did try using a regular psychiatrist and after I talked with him for 5 minutes he said to me "Buddy, your crazy"! WAIT a minute, I said I want a second opinion! "Alright, he said, You're ugly too"!

Ironically enough Mikey P, my therapy is to obsessively check models until I find something I like. Actually, that’s sounds more like feeding an addiction than therapy...
And to that end...my weather app shows 4-8” 10 days out!!!!!!!! so I’m now going to go stare at my phone longingly...interject reality at your own risk!

Pulling for ya’. My work has two seasonal slowdowns, but they are predictable and consistent, so I get to plan for it. 2” 10 days out is how it starts, so...
Ive had a total of 22 mood flakes. Half were on Dec 5 and half yesterday (my wife said so anyways).
I’m the idiot that left Fort Lauderdale to live in the snow. So it better snow. Make that it WILL snow.

I’ve decided I am going to be moving myself and my family to day 10. It seems it’s always snowing there.

Haha, love it. Day 10 is a wonderful, mystical place with snow covered landscapes, snowflakes swirling, icicles hanging and the sounds of shovels and snowplows scrapping at the ground. Problem is everytime you arrive there it is Day 1, and that’s just a crappy place with warmth and occasional rain.

Well, I failed to mention that three of my flakes turned out to be bird poop dropped by birds flying back north!
And as someone who spends plenty of time in Day 10, I can tell you it is a very peaceful, cushioned place, where nothing ever goes wrong and very little gets done. And right now, it's home sweet home!

Re: The PLAY PEN-- Banter Thread 4.0
In all seriousness (is that even allowed in Banter?), ALL of the guidance and comments I've seen are very bullish on the mid-Jan to Feb period* and getting more and more specific about the details over the last 48 hours or so. Feelings aside, it looks like Winter '18/19 is coming to a back yard near you...
* My access to warmacist commentary is limited. But whatever, I aint gonna be the one that conjurs a warmacist spirit to this board.

Re: The PLAY PEN-- Banter Thread 4.0
SENJ you are correct. The mid-range guidance is showing hints of the slightly delayed pattern change. That is important because it now is showing up in the 10-15 day which is more reliable than a 3 or 4 week projection. That said, based on how things have gone this far, caution is advised.
