I'm currently in Red Sox Suck and was supposed to head home Monday morning. The rush to get out of Dodge early is on and the MA Pike is already a mess. I'm going to stay right here in my MA apartment and enjoy my first really big storm since last year. The forecast is for 13" of snow and a little ice. I live right on the Red Sox Suck(!) Marathon starting line and the town common will be magical Sunday night.

According to the NWS you're getting 3 to 12 inches there. Pretty wide range they're giving but 13 seems a little high.
Let us know how it turns out.

Yeah really, talk about covering all bases. The only way their wrong is if they get no snow or 18 inches or above.

Channel 7's snow map- 'tis naught, 'tis naught.
Really low accumulations. As CP provided, the NWS says more. This is like a wide end receiver catching and bobbling the ball. Everyone is seeing it differently.

Re: Banter Thread 5.0
I was so hopeful for this now per Frank I'll see a high end of 3 inches and I'm thinking it won't even stick so I'm done. Kudos to those that get their Godzilla. As others have said 1zt storm paints the rest of the WI get so I guess I'm not seeing squat this year. Back to work and not psying attention to or wasting time on this rain storm. I will see have school no doubt. Even in white plains where I work shows 1 to 3 which as it's too warm is 0.

You don't need to go that far, I'm 40 miles from you (more like 35 geographically) and getting a foot (hopefully though still doubting it). You just need a little elevation (I'm at 575 feet) and to get away from that UHI environment and ocean influence.
It will be interesting to see what Math gets up in Albany. I've seen maps forecasting 12-24 in that general area.
Also many of the snow maps have shown the northern half of Vermont getting 0.00

Re: Banter Thread 5.0
well I'm still annoyed is no one taking i to account the 3km nam? Or did the 12z trend away from the 06z? I hate the build up granted u guys did say be careful about the coast but often I am just far enough away to get it good. We have kids in northern Westchester so if there is a good snow there the busses won't run. The busses have car seats these kids at 18 months to 3 yrs old they don't take any chances.CPcantmeasuresnow wrote:jmanley32 wrote:I'm moving to VT 12 to 24.

Jman, CP is 100% right.I lived in Mahwah NJ for 35 years , probably he best location in Bergen County, for snow, and after living 5 years in Monroe HV, there is no comparison. You easily double your snow totals on these storms that mix or change to rain on the coast. My Mahwah elevation was around 350 feet, I'm over 700 in Monroe. In 35 years in Mahwah, my highest total snowstorm was about 24 inches, and since I have been here in the LHV, there was a 27 incher a few years back.My wife has lived in Monroe 17 years and there was that one whack job snowstorm where Monroe got 36 inches and Mahwah barely 10.That's the one where it was raining in MA,LOL.
Anyhoo, I think our own Math 23x7 picked the perfect year to move to Albany.Looks like he is in the sweet spot for this.

I get all this but if I can squeeze 6 to 8 out of this even 4 to 6 I'll be happy. 1 to 3 is a dusting. Let's hope the placement for Monday changes which it could. I'm still getting our old friend syos frustration already lol in a maniacal sound.docstox12 wrote:CPcantmeasuresnow wrote:jmanley32 wrote:I'm moving to VT 12 to 24.

It's during times like this that I miss Tom (NjWeatherGuy). His last visit was in March 2018, meaning he was not on this board at all during the 2018-19 snow season. His insights were always very good.

Quick question for anyone who can help. My daughter has to drive back to Kutztown University. She doesn't want to drive back today. Also we would rather not have her driving back in the dark. So given those parameters, going from Flemington to Kutztown PA leaving no earlier than 6:45 AM and arriving no later than 5:45 in Kutztown, is there any point at which she will not run into frozen precip tomorrow during that time period?

Ah the Golden Bears! Had some good times at Shorty’s visiting friends there back in the day.
So barring leaving today (which is the safest option) your best bet is probably late afternoon tomorrow. I think there may be a time after 3 or 4 pm where the route from Flemington to Kutztown is mainly just rain. Morning and early afternoon are likely snow/sleet/frz rain and after 6 pm the risk of going back to frozen precip increases.
It’s a narrow window but if you have to, 3:30-5:30 is your best bet.

Also, if she leaves right at 6:45 she might beat it; I just worry it might start while en-route anytime after 8 am.
