I would say 2013-14 as it had above average snowfall in each of the meteorological winter months (DJF) and BN temps for a good chunk of the winter. JF were prodigious with snowfall.
The recent winters are too spread out with regard to snowfall and too warm for significant periods of time.
Your not to far from me I think, and that is the last year I remember having a decent snow pack. It sucks when it doesn't snow and I am not working as the more I am home doing nothing the more I end up looking at things and buying things I really don't need like getting a new rifle... At least the range I go to is indoors!

Happy New Year!
I will make a very bold call for January 2020 and say NYC exceeds January 2019 1.1" snow output.
The irony being many folks are calling for 2.5-3 AN temps in January with worst possible teleconnections imaginable to winter weather weenies. Last year many folks felt very strongly somewhere in January (kept getting pushed back) the pattern would flip and snow would befall us to at least average January snowfall.
This guarantees a surprise or two in my most humble estimations unless we have entered the dreaded January pattern of early 1930's when not more than 1" fell for 4 consecutive years.

Have a very Happy New Years to all on this board. Mugs a special shout out to you friend. Here’s to 2020 being a little more routine for you buddy. Here is a sample of the menu for tonight’s celebration. Antipasta squares, stuffed mushrooms, BBQ ribs, and homemade meatballs in a BBQ/grape jelly/siracha sauce(sounds weird buts it’s amazing). And this is just my contribution. My friends are bringing more food. Good Italians know you can never have enough food. Lol. Be safe everyone!

Happy new years to all.
Meh at the Euro don't buy a winter even it;ll be all rain. I wouldn't get any hopes up for something. too warm out, even if it did snow it wouldn't stick at least at the coastal plain. Better just to focus on not getting any snow this year as your expectations will likely get let down and be surprised if there is snow and then you will be happy. I will watch out my window, I am not looking at any models as they have screwed up too many times for me to even take them with a grain of salt even 12 hrs out.

Thus far this winter’s progression is eerily reminiscent of last winter. Let’s hope it’s more like two years ago when we at least finished strong in March, as opposed to last year where it just sputtered to and end.

Four of the last five winters, including last year, the snowiest month was March in most of the area including NYC. I'll take winter in any month, but I much prefer a front loaded to a back loaded winter.
December up until Christmas week was white and wintry in the HV but since then a total dud. January right now through the long range is looking to be the same.
Not happy.

I think its time to copy that Geico commercial and invest in a life size snow globe. Its the only way. Times are bleak. Warm rainy winters, Mandalorian episodes all aired (loved it), Star Wars 9 has been seen. NJStrong Weather members battling each other. Mugs has gone negative. Giants and Jets missed the playoffs again. Holidays are over.

Mandalorian is really great
Now that you’ve summed it up yea it is looking pretty depressing buuuuuuut we have an NJ Strong get together coming up and I’m thinking it will be a blast to catch up with everyone and hopefully talk about snowier times ahead (end of January maybe)
