4th of July Weather
Here is a timeline of what I am expecting for the holiday weekend.
Wednesday-Thursday: Mostly cloudy conditions with a chance for rain showers or thunderstorms in the early or mid afternoon hours. No more then 1 inch of rain is expected during that time, though if a heavy thunderstorm develops over your area, that would be an exception. Temperatures should be in the mid-80's with urban cities getting near 90.
Independence Day: Clouds and possible rain showers through 1pm, especially on the east end of Long Island with temperatures in the 70's. By the mid to late afternoon, there should no longer be rain falling but it is likely to remain mainly cloudy. By the evening, say around 8pm, conditions could turn from mostly cloudy to partly cloudy with temps. in the low 70's getting down into the 60's and maybe upper 50's overnight.
Saturday-Sunday: Sunshine returns with temps in the low to mid 80's. This is likely to be our 6th or 7th straight weekend of no measurable precipitation.

So after Friday we should see the humidity drop to comfortable levels?

Do you think there will be effects of this storm at the beach for the upcoming weekend. I always worry about rough surf or riptides. We will have family with young children at the beach. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

Would probably expect rough surf, but you can probably make your own judgement on that when you go down. There should be minimal inland impacts if any.

Re: 4th of July Weather
My sister called earlier this afternoon to inform me that my nephew's annual 4th of july birthday/barbecue has been postponed until saturday. I told her that she made the right decision; the party was at noon on Friday and the weather at that time is just too close to call.

Going as planned so far. Clouds this morning with spotty showers as the front moves east. Jersey shore and eastern LI will see heavier rain from Arthur's outer bands. Besides those two areas, the rest of us should be in the clear by mid afternoon. Maybe even begin to see clearing by fireworks times

Don't know what happened to my comment. But the weekend will be nice. The workweek will be a scorcher.
