Precip field really building south and west. Twin forks getting trained on. Probably hitting 18 inches somewhere out there already.

Is any one awake to tell me what they see, and think is happening. The heavy bands seem to be moving away from LI.

I have over a foot in Smithtown and I'm very happy. I'm sure we'll add another 6 or more but it looks like the heavier bands seem to be moving further east now.

The west side seems to be filling in better now which will keep the snows hitting us for quite awhile but it won't be as heavy

From Riverhead out to montauk a band of 2 to 4 has stalled and is just dumping. Here I'm getting 1 to 1.5 an hour.

16.3, 87%, 29.75 F Windy, light snow... maybe got 2 or 3 inches total so far
My NWS total snow prediction went down faster than an olive in a Martini. Maybe 3 to 5 total.
I declare an official bust from the "historic" snowstorm they predicted.

GFS and others that predicted it won out.EURO and NAM laid a big fat egg on this one.

We got "modeled" into thinking a historic snowstorm was going to hit us.At one point, NAM snowmaps by me were over 30 Inches! WTF??? Euro also had a big snowstorm up here also.Just listen to an experienced old head like me.Never depend on any models, just look at your radar the day of the storm.Mine right from the getgo was telling me the precip was NOT moving over the Hudson River so this thing was way east of what the NAM and EURO said.Whatever the cause, heavy air rising/falling, but there it was.
Ooops, sorry I should have posted in Weather Banter,Just wanted to answer Tom.I'll shut up now,LOL!

Sadly just 50 miles can make all the difference in snow fall amounts

21.2 °F

Winds are N at 4.0 Wind from NNE
Gusts 15.0 mph.
Still Snowing.
I have never taken a snow measurement before and this is my first stab at it. I got 3.4". I measured 3 places and took an average. I am not sure how accurate my measurement is.

Yesterday I was jealous that all of you were going to be getting dumped on while a couple hundred miles inland I was expecting 1-2. This morning I feel bad for you guys. I was lucky enough to be in one of the western bands and got just under 4".

For western sections yes. For eastern 1/2 of LI we will prob cont to see bands of mod to heavy snow for about 4-6more hrs or so.

The wind has kicked up in my area and it is howling like a Banshee. Though Weather Underground says the gusts are only at 10 mph. Wind steady at 6 mph. Still snowing. Winds are from the North.

Still snowing and windy in Franklin Square, western Nassau County, center of island. Looks like about a foot with higher drifts. Would not be going anywhere for quite awhile even if the roads were open and transit was running. Will take quite awhile to idig out and I am very greatful this storm was taken seriously. Once it stops, we will be up and running quicker since everyone is off the roads so they can be cleared.

16.1, 87%, 29.75 F
Wind really picking up. Light snow ended.Still, a bitter, nasty day up here.Thinking we got 2 or 3 inches total but I'll defer to the superior measuring skill of my neighbor, CP.

15 inches here in Syosset. 21 degrees. Sounds crazy to say after 15 inches but a major disappointment. I told my entire staff at work we'd be out for 2 days and my doctor cancelled my wrist surgery for tomorow. Epic bust. too much hype.
