Re: February 2015 Obs. & Discussions Thread
-9.6 coldest of the season and the new coldest temperature Doc has ever been in. I need that last 0.4
Edged out by Snow Man and many others. I said yesterday we would see -10 to -15 widespread and it looks like we are.
11th sub zero day of the month. An impressive cold spell indeed.
Jan 1994 was a colder one for several days but not nearly this prolonged.

Heh, dropped to a final low of -8.5 over here, CP. Amazing!
This is one cold spell we won't soon forget.

Impressive
Morristown was -9 so that sounds about right. Isn't that where Frank works?

Sunday when everyone was out sun bathing was the only day this month where the daily average temperature was above normal.
What a shame.
What a shame.

I'm surprised Central Park apparently made it to 4, but no record low for the day.
I haven't checked but I would think LGA and JFK must have set records this morning.

What a shame.
Doesn't look like there are any above normal days forecasted for the rest of the month. Just 1 above avg day would be impressive. The avg temp for the day was only 2* above normal at that. For the rest of the month everyday look at least 10* below normal, with today over 25* below normal

I'm officially done with this winter BS. Not because I don't love it but because that city Northeast of us out of nowhere is getting another 4 to 6" tonight out of a "surprise" snowstorm which will put them over 105" for the year. B.S. Why not us??

Made it to -17* this morning. If not for the clouds that rolled in early this morning, we would have likely made it to -20. Still -12* here now.

Temps rebounding nicely now.
Hey Jim, concerning that particular City...reminds me of that old song "When you're hot your not, when you're not your'e not...".Like a young Derek Jeter on a 10 hit out of 20 at bat streak.

That city averages 41 inches of snow a year and they may get triple that this season. The HV averages 40-60 inches per year in most places and that's what we've received.
What can you do? It's maddening but it's happening, best to try to ignore it.
Open your windows take a good look at your own snowpack and pretend that place doesn't exist, and you will find peace grasshopper. (Kung Fu reference for those to young to remember).

LMAO Definitely not always the big winner; there was one storm where you folks were getting snow thanks to strong cold air damming flooding the Hudson Valley and northern NJ and I was left with light showers of slop lol

It wouldn't surprise me. Double digit negatives were in good supply this morning.

I must say- this is the most impressive cold spell I have seen in my life. Consistently seeing low temps in the single digits and below zero is a difficult feat to accomplish in late February. Seeing pics of the Hudson practically frozen over just amazes me. This cold is quite historic and one I'll never forget. Winter 2014-2015 will be memorable in that respect.

Yeah it's been pretty brutal this year. Walked out earlier this morning and 10 degrees with hardly no wind felt pretty good. Usually never feel that way.

Last winter was way colder than this one, though.

Do you seriously want to be buried like that? I get tired of digging out of these snowstorms especially these annoying ice events, they got nowhere to put snow and ice and its putting a serious strain on their infrastructure and driving them crazy, im sick of these damn single digits and cold and il take one big storm and be done with it. I would NOT want to be in Boston right now And have to deal with being stuck in your own house or have your roof cave in are you serious? Do you have any idea what that would do to a place like NJ or NYC the most densly populately area in the United States, itd be a disaster.syosnow94 wrote:I'm officially done with this winter BS.
