MLB -Who do you like?
Well, since there are no NY teams advancing, who do you like? I'm rooting for the Cubbies and the Indians for the series. Toronto's fans are awful and dangerous. Wouldn't want anything to happen to the opposing team when they go up there. And what can you say about the Cubs? They really put it together this year and deserve it.

Indians, er , Native Ameicans, lol, are a scrappy bunch.Got to tip your hat to Francona, he's done a masterful job with them.Still, I'm pulling for the Cubs all the way.fer cryin' out loud, no WS pennant since 1908! Indians won in 1948 I think.Anyway, would be a heck of a WS Cubs-Indians.As National League Fan, gotta go Cubbies! Just so glad the Nats got knocked out.I really hate that team, lol.

Re: MLB -Who do you like?
As I have pointed out many times during the World Series last year, since the current DH/no-DH rules were put into effect in 1986, the team with home field advantage in the series is 23-6. Since the AL has home field from winning the All-Star game last July, before the WS begins, I will pick whichever team represents the AL. The only NL team I could have seen overcoming this was the SF Giants, but since they got knocked out, I don't see it happening. The last time the result of the World Series absolutely stunned me was in 2003. I never would have thought the Marlins, especially with not having home-field advantage (also having a longer layoff before the Series) would have beaten the mighty Yankees. But alas, when my 13-year old self saw this play, I was absolutely stunned in disbelief. (Don't worry Yankee fans, I was not cheering. I mean, they tore up the Mets that year and the Mets were a last place team then). That is the last time I felt this way. I know the Mets lost last year's WS, but I was expecting it. This I was not expecting:

Yay! Indians make it to the WS! Now we need the Cubs to get it in gear.

Re: MLB -Who do you like?
Cubs win Game 5 and go back to Wrigley Field with a 3-2 series lead. The last time that happened, the 2003 NLCS, we all know how that turned out...

Re: MLB -Who do you like?
That was a close play at first to end the game that the Dodgers should have challenged it. But they did not. Actually, if 30 seconds after the potential last out is called the manager does not ask for one, it becomes official. I just looked at the replay, it was close, but I guess Dave Roberts (Dodgers manager) chose not too. Either way, Congratulations to the Cubs and their fans!!! Thanks especially for knocking out the Giants (who eliminated the Mets) and the Dodgers (a team I can't stand, especially Chase Utley) Cleveland will be a big challenge. They have home field advantage in the WS so that's the team I am picking. Either way, both teams are championship-starved. 1908 or 1948, somebody's long wait is gonna be over!!!

Re: MLB -Who do you like?
Congrats to the Cubs and their long suffering Fans.I watched them celebrate and it was great to see that. The WS should be great with two hungry teams going at each other. As a NL Fan, pulling for the Cubs but you have to tip your hat to Francona, those Indians are an excellent team.So nice to see different teams in the WS instead of the Cards, SF or Boston.

Re: MLB -Who do you like?
So this World Series will go the distance. In order for the Cubs to win, they need to score early against their ace Cory Kluber and then hold the fort with starter Kyle Hendricks going and Lester, Lackey, and Chapman holding the fort. The Cleveland gets into the middle innings with Miller, Shaw, and Allen, it will be tough for the Cubs to score any runs. Also, looking at the forecast for Cleveland, a cold front is set to move in late tomorrow night. It will be a close call as to if the game will end before the first raindrops fall. But much of the night should be fine.

Re: MLB -Who do you like?
No words can describe how amazing Game 7 was. And Congratulations to the Chicago Cubs who finally won the World Series. And now we'll see if the Mets can one day win the series in my lifetime (I was born in 1990, four years after the Mets last championship).

Yes, Mike, an amazing game 7 to cap off an incredible World Series.Down 3 games to 1 with a 108 year old curse monkey on thir backs, the Cubs fought off a gutsy, tough Cleveland team to finally win it all.For a baseball fan, it was a dream come true.

Re: MLB -Who do you like?
This is the EPITOME of an EPIC lifetime event!
Congrats to the Cubs and their fans.
Madden won despite his bonehead managerial moves in game 6 and 7 IMO. Why bring your ace in to pitch when you have game 6 wrapped up 9-2 knowing you WILL be bringing him in for game 7? Take out hendriks who was cruising along after he gives up a hit with two outs with Lester who has been public as was Madden also made public I WILL NOT bring him in a relief spot in a dirty inning, baffling move.

Mugsy, you hit the nail on the head with Maddens moves and it would have been talked about for years if the Cubs lost.Thankfully, they pulled it out in those extra innings.Sometimes its all chemistry and destiny, and the Cubs won in spite of Madden.

Re: MLB -Who do you like?
Doc, thanks for the support. coming from a longtime guru like you means a lot. My boys on the Michael Kay show , went to hs with LaGrecca, we're going nuts and I was like than god someone else noticed. I told my son who became a huge Cubs fan aftee going out to Chicago this April for college visitations that Madden may lose this game after he pulled Hendricks for Lester. That in itself was a terrible move. Poor Chapman the kid had nothing in the tank but was a warrior battling despite was his boss told him, situation he pit him in. It was like the first wave in Day for God's sake go in and fight even though we know you know you probably won't make it.docstox12 wrote:Mugsy, you hit the nail on the head with Maddens moves and it would have been talked about for years if the Cubs lost.Thankfully, they pulled it out in those extra innings.Sometimes its all chemistry and destiny, and the Cubs won in spite of Madden.

Yep, Mugsy, baseball Fan here since 1960, I've seen it all and Madden got lucky that his Cubs bailed him out there. Will never understand how he brought in Chapman with that big lead.Oh well, he gets paid, I dont, lol!!
Lets see what the trade situation brings over the winter season.Thinking those Indians are gonna be right back in there being healthy again.Oh well, Spring training and April 1 a million years away!

Re: MLB -Who do you like?
As the playoff season approaches, I am pulling for a classic NY Yankee-LA Dodger World Series to bring back memories of classic NY Baseball when three teams were in the City and Subway Series lit it all up.Some of that excitement is in this clip.

Re: MLB -Who do you like?
Nats crash and burn, LOL, patterning themselves after those great Atlanta teams of the 90's, choking when the chips are down in the playoffs and World Series.Gotta give the Cubs credit for hanging in there after that devastating loss with that grand salami in the ninth the other day.My hope for classic Yankees-Dodgers WS still alive but would be happy with a Yankees-Cubs WS that REALLY goes back to the 1930's!! Yanks have the momentum now but Houston is tough.Stay tuned folks!
