I am home. No damage thankfully. A few things askew but no damage. Aftershock just hit so that was unsettling..

I felt a very slight bit of that here too just now.

Around 4 pm had a mix snow and rain shower.

43 degrees, mostly cloudy, breezy.

Aftershock at 5:59 pm was 4.0 magnitude.

4.0 aftershock confirmed in Somerset County NJ near the first epicenter.

Wow, that was significant but up here it was a lot less noticeable than this mornings.I did feel it though.Last minor quake I felt was in 1984, now two in one day in 2024.

Wow another 4.0 rocked you guys in NJ but was strong here again! This is scary, does anyone think that these earthquakes are a precursior to a much bigger one? I know thats only in the movies but I did read a artcle that a sizematologist said it could be, though unlikely.

Hard to say, there was a 2.2 event on 3/14 in that area, so maybe that was the pre-cursor? I hope these aren't!

Not likely. Earthquakes occur to relieve stress in the rocks. So there is less stress in the rock than there was before the quake. That’s why aftershocks are generally weaker than the main quake - there is less and less stress left in the rocks each time.

I doubt these are precursors. I think the 4.8 was the main one and the 4.0 a very strong aftershock. I sure hope so because anything stronger than a 5.0 in this fault line would probably cause damage in NYC and Philly.
