That is so great for Alex and really nice of Jim Cantore to include a young meteorology enthusiast on the show.Always like Jim Cantore.
Sunny, cold, blustery here today.Sorry snow lovers (including myself), I've had it.Looking forward to the rain to build up the trout streams , and the warmer weather. We've had a great winter even though the last 6 weeks were disappointing.

Skins:
In Central Park this winter only ranked 63rd out of 145 winters as far as cold goes, barely in the top half. However this is only for the period December 1 through February 28, which is considered meterological winter.
November and March were both below normal, November 2.5 degrees below normal and March 5.3 degrees so far. If we took the period November through the end of March I'm sure it would rank quite a bit lower I'm sure in the top 40, that's what is making people think this winter is so abnormally below normal because it has been so for 5 straight months.
But as I've stated before there have been 5 winters (December through February) just since 1993/94 that have been colder than this one.

Re: March 2014 Observations/Discussions
Thats fine, not excited for cold here, just like snow which is why the 2nd half was very disappointing here. Was a frigid 17 this morning so done with this, heights will rise today so will probably reach 50 today.

Sitting at 63 right now. Frontal passage only has .05" of rain with it, not exactly as robust as models had it.

From -4 degree temp departures from normal to ending the month in sunburns. Oh March, you're cray.

Yep, Janet gets a sunburn the same day LI has a snowstorm. That in a nutshell is what can happen the last week of March.

Re: March 2014 Observations/Discussions
I have needed 1/10th of an inch of snow since the blizzard of February 26th, when I was buried in 0.3 inches of snow, to get to 70 inches.
Pathetic and wrong. I want to change my grade from B- to a C-. I've never seen a more frustrating ending to a winter in the HV, even in a bad winter.

Skins I would recommend the Vantage Vue 6250 from Davis Instruments, it's 319.99 on Amazon.com. I know it's over your price range of 200$, but it's well worth the money. I put mine in service in February of 2013 and have had no problems with it. You can also buy extra monitors (159.99 also on Amazon) for it in the future so you can see the conditions in other rooms, which I've done. You can also buy their Weatherlink (229.79 Amazon) which lets you hookup your weather station to the internet on Davis's website for free. All you do is plug it in to your router and it's ready to go, your computer doesn't even need to be on. I post my weather information on their site under SNOW MAN'S Pocono Pa. weather, check it out. I hope this information helps you out.
