That's the key, Doc, the storm tracks.Up here , the borderline storms do best, lots of QPF at around or just below freezing.Where I was in Mahwah Bergen County NJ, it's slop. Then again, the north areas have been at the fringe of the precip shields while you LI guys get blasted.
Accuweather claiming higher snow totals N and W of I 95.Probably that is the KOD for me,LOL!

Re: October 2014 Obs and Discussions
from nws disco...
COLD AIR ADVECTION SAT NIGHT WILL ALLOW TEMPS TO FALL INTO THE 30S
MANY LOCATIONS...EXCEPT AROUND 40 NEAR THE COAST.
RAIN TAPERS OFF. A FEW SNOW FLAKES ARE POSSIBLE IN ANY LEFTOVER
SHOWERS AS COLDER AIR FILTERS IN. IN FACT...A FEW SREF MEMBERS
OUTPUT MEASURABLE SNOW. HOWEVER...THE CONSENSUS IS FOR PRECIP TO
END BEFORE COLDER AIR MOVES IN.
CLOUDS SUNDAY MORNING COULD GENERATE A SPRINKLE OR FLURRY...BUT HAVE
NOT INCLUDED THIS IN THE FCST AS NOT EXPECTING ANYTHING
SIGNIFICANCE. DO NOTE THAT THERE ARE 3 MEMBERS IN THE 09Z SREF THAT
DO GENERATE MEASURABLE SNOW - SO IT`S SOMETHING TO MONITOR.
still a shot for snow however small. do not discount esp if storm cranks up. 47* moderate rain shower with gusty winds.

Hey doc its November, thats not a November observtion lol!
heh doc you dom (dirty old man) lol jk (glad it wasn't my wife I would chased ya down the street) lol, the nws disco is interesting and the precip this morning is WAY west, encompasing whole area slowly. It would be awesome to have a light measurable snow, enough to make the leaves look pretty but not enough to cause any huge damage, some nice pics, if it snows not to far up north I may just have to take a drive upstate a bit, free weekend for once....welll maybe. BTW shouldnt the observations for today and tomorrow be under the NOV. 1st storm obs? Until we have a November observation thread? Just saying. Al I agree we can't rule anything out until its over I know its freezing in my place wind ow AC's still in doesn't help.

Most of my leaves are down now except the weeping cherry and some red leaves left on the maples. So it's 41.6 it's cloudy windy and cold. Let some flakes fly tonight. I don't think we see anything measurable here but I'd love it if I was surprised.
Doc. I hear yay.

Re: October 2014 Obs and Discussions
JK doc, I am sure your a nice person hopefully you can make it to the get together in January like to meet ya! Let me tell you trick or treating last night people were rather cheap to my wife since my daughter is only 18 months (she climbed stairs and pointed that we had a child with us), seriously, well ye of course we are going to eat the candy but who cares we have a child! One guy appeared to have to make sure she could say a word before he gave candy (seemed a bit insulting), I was just really irked by that.

Sorry about the problems trick or treating last night.

mugs ghost
Mugs, I have ghosts. I've seen and heard everything from my wife's grandpa. We live in his old house, knocking on our bedroom door in the middle of the night, things go missing and we ask grandpa to put it back and minutes later the item is exactly where it was supposed to be. Had an actual sighting one time, scared the crap out of me, saw him standing in the kitchen in his military uniform 15 feet away, my hair on my neck stood up and the room got so cold, will never forget that.

Mako - let's start a new thread for this - I have a bunch of stories - we can scare the crap out of each other and whom ever else wants to share - I'll put it in the Off Topic Thread.
