One word for today......ick! But we can keep the storm obs in the other thread....just wanted to get this one started...

Man the winds are HIGH! They actually woke me up, have to be gusting to 50mph right now stuff blowing all over the place. Have not seen the wind gusting thi high this often in quite a while.

37.7 degrees, 72% humidity, 29.93 barometer.Winds are howling and were so all night long up here.That storm must have exploded N and E of here.

Yeah you're way inland from where I am so imagine what the wind is like here! Yes look at radar Capr to Maine are getting ponded they have high wind warnings. We have a freeze warning first of season. Coned is reporting about 1,000 people without power at this time in southern westchester alone, and the winds just started really going. Not that many in comparison to population but I hope we keep ours we are in a fairly well treed area.

We just had some big gusts come through, power outages just went up to over 2,000 in southern westchester (looking at coned outage map, some very close by).

Winds at 10 mph here in Riverdale NJ with gusts to 21 mph.   41 degrees, and barometer at 29.77.  A gray, breezy fall day!

jman windiest night in awhile. def gusting to 50mph. jfk and lga had 46 and 49 mph wind gust. I have huge trees all around my house. pine trees are really swaying. so far not to many branches down but I think that will change soon

Def is howling. I could hear it all night. Reminds me of thabksgiving for some reason. Had a low of 42. Lowest of the season. Think i had a 44* night couple times before.

Theres quite a few branches down in my area including one large one that took down the house wires and landed on their car. Its got to be gusting to or past 50mph at this time, I am a bit elevated so it may be higher here for that reason. There are now near 4500 power outages in southern westchester, keeps climbing, AL I hope nothing happens to your property, garbage blowing everywhere and a box of plastic bags got loose which are now webbed throughout the tree outside my window, real nice. Wind Advisory till tomorrow so we have a long way to go and looks by models the strongest winds are yet to come bout midday.

My bad wind advisory till 6pm. The freeze is till 8 am tomorrow.

39.8* here this morning and windy 12-18mph winds with gusts of 24mph so far - a lot of leaves blowing around.

tough day for a marathon

Drove around took some pics of the damage alot of trees and branch down 6500 power outages in westchester and still going up. Is the wind dying down now? Or is it going to continue?

Al so far mt. Vernon has the most outages u still got power?

NWS upped the wind gusts so I guess the winds will increase this afternoon, 6,700 outages right now in westchester, roads closed in many areas, I did not expect this much wind at all.  Gusts to 55mph shouldn't this be a high wind warning?

Precip looks to be changing to all snow up and down the NE coast. They just showed Foxboro stadium and its accumulating.

Wow even boston. Sroc do u think since they upped the winds for my area that the worst is not over? It's a mess out here

Will they lower the speeds on the tappan zee for winds like this? Need to go over it later and trying to plan my travel time.

I don't think it will get much worse. As you can see the center of the LP is about even with our latitude. It will continue to pull up and out from here. It is bombing out though so for the next 3-6 hrs as it pulls away it may get a touch windier, but overall I don't think anything significant compared to what we are all experiencing.

Hmm good point.  I would check 1010 wins traffic report or any of the local news stations traffic pages to see.

yes, they will reduce speeds 40 mph gusts. sroc was just wondering because the nws upped the gusts to 55mph not long ago.

TWC just said 27,000 outages including LI, wetchester and NYC, not immense but enough to cause problems. Most of the damage here is lines from peoples houses not main lines.

This isn't long range, so maybe we should put up a seperate thread but looks like another storm on Thursday. Does it look to be as bad or worse than this one for us? It looks like boston is changing to snow surprised Cantore is in Chicago and not in the snow.

7,100 of those outages is my area of westchester, jeeze keeps going up they just blocked off the road near my street due to a branch that took down high voltage wires. May be looking at a lot of wind storms thins winter with these systems. I am psyched for snow, maybe we can get some later in November.

yes I have power. winds have weakened a lot. I think the worst is over.
