A very, VERY good outing by Steven Matz today!

If you look at our current rotation: Syndergaard: #1 starter, Matz: #2 starter, Colon: #3 starter, deGrom: #4 starter, Harvey: #5 starter.

I never thought I would put #4 and #5 where they are now.

Harvey will make his next scheduled start. I was stunned when I heard this. How far can they go with him before they remove him from the rotation?

I think Harvey is getting bad advice from that Boras guy who probably is saying that Harvey's value will go down if he has a stint in the minors.Harvey's obstinancy is just showing more and more what a self centered individual he is.A stint in the minors would help the TEAM, but oh no, Mr.Dark Knight's ego would not allow it.Got news for him.He isn't going to find himself on the mound of the majors right now.Maybe he needs to get his arse kicked a few more times and the management finds the stones to force this guy into the minors.

Anyway, while that drama plays out, your rotation above Mike, will be augmented by Wheeler so the Harvey disaster is not critical.Much more critical is the Lucas Duda injury and who they can get at first to come close to Duda's production.

Doc, since David has been feeling and playing well, Campbell has been playing a great first base. I like him! I think they can put Reynolds in at 3rd when David needs a day off. I'm going Friday night and Sunday night and will see deGrom and Colon. I wish I could go Saturday too to see Thor.

Dunz, yes Campbell is a good fielder but he really is underperforming hitting wise.Maybe with steady time he will improve.

Jacob deGrom, who pitched 7 innings allowing just one run and left with a four run lead does not get a win and Familia, who blew the four run lead in the ninth inning, DOES get the win, smh.

But it was so fun to be there! The place was sold out, packed with over 43,000 fans yelling "Utley sucks!" which of course didn't help, he tied the game in the 9th... but when Grandy hit that shot...holy cow! Can't wait for Sunday night!

Great game and wonderful for Curtis, a classy gentleman who came through in the clutch.Glad the Fans gave it to Utley but he was just playing old school baseball, a la Ty Cobb, with that slide into Flores. Now they have eliminated that like the rule with colliding into catchers.Sorry, I'm an old school guy and disagree.

Mets acquired first baseman James Loney from the Padres. Good pick up, maybe add some pop to the lineup.

"In Triple-A this season, Loney hit .342 with a .373 OBP and .424 SLG in 43 games. Loney has a .285 average and a .338 OBP over 10 major league seasons while playing with the Dodgers, Rays and Red Sox."

Holy cow, Thor thrown out after throwing behind Utley in the 3rd. No warning. Collins tossed as well. Knowing the history, I'm surprised the teams weren't warned before the games here. Fans were relentless with Utley chants last night. Might have had something to do with it. But if you are going to go there, might as well hit him. I bet the value of my Thor garden gnome just went up!

Tough loss by the Mets tonight.  Evil or Very Mad  And it doesn't help that they face Kershaw in the rubber match tomorrow night. Evil or Very Mad Anyway, the Nationals, Phillies, and Marlins all lost today so after all that, the Mets remain ahead in the loss column in the division.

This whole thing is ridiculous to begin with. Utley does his job and he's not intimidated by someone throwing at him. He was hit by pitches more over his career than any player in Phillies history and never a peep of complaint from him, just puts his head down and takes first base. The Mets would (would have been) wise to drop this and move on. The slide in the playoffs wasn't dirty, and if they think it was it was no more dirty than David Wright's ugly slide into Utley prior to that, so there is little room for righteous indignation. If throwing behind him motivated the two homeruns tonight the "sending a message" will be of little value if the Nats win the division by one game.

Agree 100%.You are out there to win ballgames and all this did was take your best pitcher out of the game and fuel Utley into hitting two home runs.Better message would be to sweep the Dodgers in the series.Utley played old school hardball baseball, which now has been "made nicey nicey" by eliminating slides like Utley did and collisions at home plate.A fastball under the chin would have sufficed here.

Oy, Familia struggles again.... went to the game last night and got the replica 86 WS ring, crazy how people want these giveaways, limited to the first 15,000 fans, and folks were lined up 3 hours before gates opened, 5 hours before first pitch. Then they were on ebay for $75 within the hour.

Hmmmmmmmmm wonder whats wrong with Familia all of a sudden.Curtis bailed him out or it would have been two losses. If this keeps up, I'd use Reed as the closer. He's been good.

Good news, bad news..... Harvey has a great outing, 7 innings pitched, 1 BB, 6 SO, 2 hits. Bad news, looks like David is going on DL.

Oh, and Familia gets a save and the Mets win!

I was at the game today. What a disgrace showing of the Mets hitting. Losing 2-1 in 13 innings as the hitters seem to do one of two things: strike out or ground into a double play. When will they have .300 hitters and base stealers? How about guys that can bunt. These features would have helped in the later innings. They now embark on a 10-game road trip. If they fall out of it during this trip, you could see a lot of empty seats during the Mets next home stand. Mad

I watched both losses to the White Sox and it was like the Mets of a few years ago.Absolutely no hitting.Gotta cut some slack, though, Wright and Duda are injured, two big bats. Can't control injuries.Granderson,Cespedes and Conforto both look terrible lately.Bullpen shaky too. Please get rid of Robles.I've seen this guy blow too many games.Hopefully they get back in gear on the road trip.

Oy, now Lagares has a partially torn ligament in his thumb, they are going to wait a few days before they decide if he can put off surgery and play through it... it's crazy, pitchers getting back to pitching well (except Robles!) and the offense is falling apart!

I would love for them to bring up prospect Brandon Nimmo.  Here's a kicker:  Nimmo was the 13th pick of the 2011 MLB draft from the Mets.  The Marlins had the next pick and with that pick selected Jose Fernandez, who beat the Mets yesterday...

Dunz, thats the wild card in baseball, the injuries. We've been dealt a bum hand .Wright, Duda, Lagares, Cespedes ailing.Good thing it's early on in the season.Walker,Granderson and Loney are going to have to pick it up now.

Well, at least they salvaged one game last night even though Walker tried to hand it to his Pittsburgh buddies with two errors,LOL. My opinion.....Alderson blew it, they should have kept Danny.Walker making bonehead plays like Danny did but Danny blowing him away hitting wise.

LOL, if that kid Dunn makes it you'll really have someone to root for Janet.

I have never seen in all my years of watching baseball anything like the phenomenal Bartolo Colon. All these young kids going down with their injuries and this old timer just keeps going on and on, succeeding against killer young hitters with his amazing control and speed changes. All I can say is Thank God they signed him up for this year.Good to see Curtis,Cespedes and Plawecki come through.Good win on top of the extra inning win.
