La Nada winter. I got the merest sugar cookie coating of snow. Usually it is a snow to rain solution. A little coating will do. This winter reminds me of SJ winters. No snow tires, no plowing, no snow, just colder. Does anyone remember that April blizzard from some years ago? I am a true optimist, holding out. I will be the last one to go. They'll have to storm my stronghold to get me. Snow will come.

Looks like area in blue could see another coasting to an inch late Thursday into Friday am.  The area in black and yellow could pick up a additional 2-3" maybe 4" if current trends cont, esp the further east along the NS of LI in Suffolk County Friday night into Sat. Models have trended a bit stronger and further N with a deepening low off the coast to our S&E for the second wave fri into Sat.

You wont be the last one.

Having lived through the May 9-10, 1977 snow event which was several inches in Orange County and almost a foot in parts of the HV and even snow showers in NYC (trace officially) and over two feet in  parts of the Catskills, I still am hopeful into the first week of May for another one of those in my lifetime.

12ZNAM gives nothing above I 80 anything but mood flakes Friday and South of the Driscoll can see a couple of inches this run but it shows the Saturday storm N of the Driscoll Bridge giving 2-4" for NNJ and onto LI

Friday

SNJ needs to subtract the Friday storm amounts

Wow, almost 3 inches already in Bloomingdale New Jersey off of 287. The roads are complete trash in the highway looks worse than an unplowed parking lot. Someone dropped the ball on this one. I had to go back home because the highways were so bad.

LOL, NWS blows it again, the snow I was supposed to get Wednesday night came last night. They had absolutely nothing for us last night and today. That's terrible about the highway, people need to get to work.Don't blame you one bit for bailing, that's a dangerous situation.Who needs a totaled vehicle or a hospital visit.

20 degrees, light snow, about an inch. 1 to 2 inches tonight into tomorrow.Sunday starts as rain to snow at night. That will cut down on accumulation.

Exactly, there was already several cop cars on 287 attending to stuck cars on the side of the road. Also saw a truck almost hit a barrier. May have some work during lunch hopefully by then it clears up a bit. These are just nuisance events now.

1.25” here in Parsippany and doesn’t seem to be doing anything at the moment.  I work straight up 287 near Bloomingdale and my school called a delay.  I wonder if they’ll get the roads up there in shape in a couple of hours?  I hope so.  Don’t want to use our last snow day today.

Hey all, stayed out of the loop on this one- mostly cuz I was too busy and also cuz this is the 4th or 5th such storm we've had down this way, and all in the last 6 weeks really, and all within a range of 1-3".

Still have not officially hit 3" in a single snowfall this year. Looks like a good shot now, but I'm not convinced yet. It's been the same script for each storm- starts off looking great for an over-achiever...and then the sky shuts off at exactly the 2" mark. Looks to be right at 2" now, so we'll see.

heehaw, you were right on with this one...only the NAM had it from the beginning and it never wavered lol! (btw, you also looking right about that coastal you said was going to happen)

26* with light snow, probably about to end here. A coating like yesterday morning. Hopefully this is the opening act for something better Sunday night.

If it wasn't for catching the northern shield of this southern storms, I do not think Ocean County would have hit an inch in any storm this year. Shocked

31* and still mod snow. 2" official on the ground. This is where the shut down valve usually comes in, as radar says another 1-2" to go.

Flakes just got bigger. I remember last week some of you said that meant change to sleet/rain was coming soon. Not the case here though...any other reason why the flakes would all of a sudden double/triple in size?

I have no scientific explanation for that but what I have noticed these many years of observing is that the last burst of a departing storm sometimes features that size and intensity increase before the shut down.

I could be wrong but I believe that it's good snow growth in the Dgz .Also could mean that there's a warm layer a few thousand feet up in the atmosphere anyway 2 inches of snow officially still snowing very lightly this is my biggest snowfall since November very sad and it came on March 1st after meteorological winter has ended
