Man... a shame about Isotherm. I hope he is ok!

Also, I took the drive out to my office this morning in Hackettstown. What a difference from the city! 42 degrees in Jersey City...31 degrees in HKT.

Yeah, we were waking up the block at 4 am to catch it, too. I kept saying to the kids 'Be quiet' and 'Shhhh', but I probably made more noise than they did. Rolling Eyes

I remember my parents dragging me and my brother out of bed and at unGodly hour to see these things. I know the first time was for Sky Lab but I was very young (4 or so) and don't remember too much about the sighting. But I do know that I've always remembered it as an awesome experience, so I assume what I saw was cool...

The second time was for an eclipse like last night and I was around 6 or 7. That night though, we couldn't see a thing and went back to bed a bit dejected. So, when my wife asked if we should go to bed early and get the kids up to watch, I was like- yeah sure, I'm pretty sure I had a 50% success rate when I was kid, so its worth it.

Cool pic Mom! I took a few pics myself and they look exactly the same as yours. lol I will say that both your my pictures show the red a lot more visibly than it appeared through binoculars and certainly through the naked eye. At least for me. Wonder why that was? Did you notice that too Mom?

How are some of these storms labelled tropical storms is beyond me. We have had Nor's better looking these storms.
I woudl say 8 of these were not worthy of this distinction and 10 plus years ago would have never been named.

The classification process has become much more subjective, and when you leave the fox in charge of the verification henhouse, and when funding is directly tied to those verifications, it’s easy to see why. Though that’s only a part of it, I’ll stop there lol

Two years at this time, at the start of my first meteorological winter in Albany, I ended up with a 22” snowstorm. It was quite the storm and helped me have close-to-average snowfall for the 2019-20 snow season while much of the NYC region had well below average snowfall that year. Three months later, at the Morristown meetup, while the rest of those at the table said how much snow they had for the season, I told them how much I had and the immediately said it doesn’t count. I think I know why. Razz
