November 2023 Observations and Discussion

First widespread freeze of the year tonight with many areas dropping into the 20s. Cold air already asserting itself with a stiff northwest wind here. Temp is 44* with a Wind Chill (yep we can start using that term again) of 39*.

Slight rebound in temps likely this weekend, but looks to dip back into cold territory toward the end of next week.

I know.. lol ...I am not complaining about the cold..and am prepared..thin layer of long johns and throws and seat cushions..but its night I can hopefully leave most of it in the truck..just happy to be seeing our son..tommorrow can not come fast enough!
According to my son..the low in Rhode Island tonight will be 29* tonight.

Low of only 38* but the LI Sound clearly has an influence with the light north wind coming off it keeping the immediate coast above freezing, but pretty much south of 25A got down below.

wow was surprised...we went down to 31* being right off the bay I was surprised we went down below freezing..have a good day and weekend everyone!! will give weather obs from RI this weekend!

Low 26 degrees at 7:55 in am, now 30 degrees at 8:36, solid frost on grass and cars. Pellet stove going in house and wood stove going in pool house,

Yes 27 this morning. Frost on windshield but nowhere else. Doc, all my leaves are down (early!) but my one huge oak tree still has its leaves. You mentioned your acorns. Usually I have tons from that tree but this year not even one. I can assure you that outside your house next year, you will have tons of chipmunkd.

Same here too Damian.Most are down except for the oak and Norway Maple at the end of the driveway which are always late.My oak dropped tons of huge acorns this year, the most I have ever seen in 10 years in this house.

Definitely a bit more snow coverage in eastern CA now, but it's still below normal depths in most areas. In many of these areas in central Quebec and Labrador November is the biggest monthly snowfall. I don't see much here in November if any which of course is normal, but it would be nice if the area could see snow OTG for Christmas. It's been 14 years in Central Park and that's getting into longest span territory for NYC. I think the record is actually 17 years 1966-1983.
I feel good though about not being single digit snowfall IMBY this season. 2 occurrences in 4 years is incredible.
