We have a little over 8" here, but it looks like it was closer to 10 before all the rain hit last night. All that beautiful fluffy snow is now a sheet of ice.... So sad....

About 5-6 inches here. Hard to tell after the ice and rain. Great storm. We were fortunate given the bad pattern

Tell me about it. Driving around last night was horrible. I felt like I needed a snowmobile to get around yesterday. Leaf removal and snow removal this year so far have been horrible in my town.

We got about 3", then the heavy rains around 3:00am washed away everything. Oh well, at least no shoveling today, haha!

I measured 6" last night. Got compressed by this morning by the rain/freezing rain overnight. Plus a solid coating of ice. The sun is taking care of that now. It was very treacherous for anyone out very late/early morn..

Zoo - thanks for the update. Coming home to shovel/snowblow the slop if it will handle it. I heard it was bad down there last night.
Gives us 8" for the year almost 1/5 of our annual snowfall amount - wooohooooo!!!

Mugs, it is warming nicely....up to 33.7* and the sun is out...if you get back while it is still light out it might not be that bad....safe trip home!

Just finished shoveling. Not the easiest to shovel since there is a layer of ice on top of the snow.

Hector, I'm from Mahwah also, been here 33 years. You're right about the leaf and snow removal, never as bad as the last few years.
Here's my reasons why.A few years ago, Bill Laforet was put in as interim Mayor after Martel died.LaForet owns the Sunoco Station at the corner of Miller and Franklin Turnpike. To try and save the taxpayers money, he wanted to privatize some of the DPW services, which did not sit well with the head of the DPW being union.LaForet is free enterprise owning a business.
When LaForet was up for re-election after Martel's term expired, the aforementioned head of the DPW ran against La Foret.LaForet won.Ever since, DPW services heave declined badly.I believe that districts that voted heavily for La Foret are seeing the worst DPW service in retaliation.
So you see, Mawha has it's own "conspiracy theory" liberal union versus conservative free enterprise idiocy, a microcosm of national affairs.
Sadly, we the taxpayers of Mawah suffer.Glad I'm moving to Monroe NY this coming October.

Shoveled in Monroe NY this AM.Piece of cake as there was only a very thin crust of ice.
Drove down to Mahwah NJ to shovel my property there.Much worse. One inch thick crust on the flattened snow.

Tell me about it. The politics in Mahwah have been a mess for quite sometime. A few months back they had a meeting about how the officers get paid to go to court. Some of the officers that showed up to the meeting were getting paid that night also lol. The taxpayer always suffers.

Yep, you feel like they turn you upside down to shake the few coins out of your pocket.
A buddy of mine , when he retires, will spend 6 months in the Dominican Republic in partnership with another pal in a farm/coffee plantation. You pay NO property tax for life down there once you own the land. How's that for something new and different,LOL!

I lost power for 6 hours this morning, it just came back on. It was 53 degrees in the house and I couldn't make coffee!! I also couldn't figure out how to get my garage door open, I better look into that for next time.

Hard to tell how many inches we had total but by the time I shoveled this morning about 9:30am, it was only 2-3 inches of wet snow with a layer of ice on top. Really tired of all this ice. Miss the storms where it is just 7-10 inches of nice fluffy snow.

We ended up with 8.2 inches of snow in highland mills. Very light coating of sleet on top. It never went above 19 degrees for the entire storm duration. It was mostly between 13 and 16 degrees. I haven't seen it snow that long at those temperatures for a couple of years. Good storm but not exactly what I was expecting. Frank nailed the amounts though. Another nice job frank.

If it's an electric door, there should be a cord hanging down directly below the gear box in the ceiling. If you pull it forward, it will release the track or chain that's attached to it and you can then lift the door by hand. Just don't forget to manually lock the door when you close it again. When the power comes back on, just pull the cord in the reverse direction and that will re-engage the motor to the track or chain. There also might be a handle instead of cord, varies by model. Hope that helps.

Hey stox, my wife had that problem a few years ago when I was away on business. It's in an awkward place if there is a car parked underneath and kind of hard to reach.
