Quite an impressive cutoff low out there in the midwest, won't be surprised to see some areas surpass 4" but I think the majority will see 1.5-3"

i'm at 47* with a stiff east wind. will not make it out of the 40's until the warm front moves through early thurs. morning. feels like early march. where was the blocking when we needed it? the first 10 days of may look to be at or below normal. probably will not see an 80* day in nyc for some time.

Algae I hear ya and concur where the hell was this Omega Block (so Bill Evans said this morning) when we needed it most last month!!
46.5* and light rain with this raw East wind - tomorrow should be quite the interesting day with heavy rains, wind, flooding and a wind chill to boot!!
Warmth looks to be delayed until mid month now - hopefully in time for Memorial Day weekend!

It looks like they are expecting about 2" out there, but depending on how your house is elevated, it might not be too much of a problem, 2" over a few days may be able to drain off pretty well. The only issue is how heavy the rains are Wednesday late night. There can be some areas that get a lot of rain in a short period of time...keep an eye on the radar tomorrow night...

39 degrees light rain and wind. I haven't seen an accumulating May snowfall around the tri state since May 9-10 1977.
Would love to break that streak this year.

Was 36.5 this morning with moderate rain. Couldn't see any snowflakes but hill towns in the Catskills were reporting snow this morning. 1 day removed from May unbelievable. Never made it out of 40's yesterday and won't today either. If only this was the end of March even early April what a nice snow storm this would have been.

Re: April 2014 Observations and Discussion
Sure would be if we changed this into snow we'd have 30-40 inches! BTW I don't remember the last time I saw pink on the rain map! Seems NWS thinks 4+ isnt out of the question for some areas.

I saw pink and thought mixed precip for a sec lol
LGA tied a record low at 42*
JFK fell couple degrees short.
In an era when record lows are never set any more there have been several at the airports since March.

Lowered rainfall totals although the last map was from 2pm tues till thurs, this map is from 8am this morning till tomorrow so near another 3 inches still which will probably prompt flood warnings closer to NY Metro later tonight, I hope we at least get some boombers with this rain. ya sure frank fantastic lol

Looking at radar. Wow. We'd had a lot of rain so far in NNJ but things are about to get ugly. Evening commute is not looking good.

Yeah NWS radar is showing 35-45 dbz rainfall moving into the area and doesn't look to move out for quite some time. This is likely going to cause the most urban flooding.

It's actually the most impressive fetch of rain I've seen around here in a longggg time. Reports of widespread flooding of rivers & streams coming in across NJ.

Re: April 2014 Observations and Discussion
Just drove up the parkway from Newark(NJIT) - the median's in NNJ are all swamps. I have standing puddles of water all over my property - radars showing no end until mid AM hours.
Tomorrow morning there will be a good amount of flooding from the streams and then we get the rivers.
44* and heavy rain and my rain gauge is not recording he data - ugghhh!!
Okay my Snow Weenie Friends out there - JUST IMAGINE if this were white gold!!

That moisture fetch from Balt is really disconcerting. River flooding a big concern now.

The rainfall rates are extremely impressive and rivers are rising into flood stages quickly. Any one near rivers or creeks should take proper precautions.SoulSingMG wrote:
