Re: April 2014 Observations and Discussion
That rainstorm was crazy, mudslide in my town blocking metro north tracks this morning, Bronx river is raging, luckily reports are its going down. Closest spotter report to me was 5.28, this storm was underestimated by alot (by media, models and even here). Lets just hope it stays dry long enough for rivers to receed anymore 1 inch+ rainstorms and we in really big trouble. Number of road closures here and the street behind mine was flooded out and the river was rising fast so city DOT evacuated peoples cars and had fire engines pumping the water all night into the river and the flooding was from a low lying spot and not the river flooding, it almost did though. After that last huge flood we had years ago they put up a dirt retaining wall that has helped that neighborhood alot.

I got 4.85 inches of rain last night. A lot of flooding around the Newark area. That was a crazy storm with training storms. Mild today with temps in the 70's

I have to buy a new rain gauge, mine succumbed to the harsh winter. We definitely did not get more than 2", and I do not feel cheated. Those pictures of homes in Queens this morning were horrendous, reminiscent of Sandy unfortunately.
