Hi-res models last night began to show that. Will be interesting to see if anything comes out of it tonight.

I want to believe Alex, I really do. But in this phantom winter I hesitate to believe that the often phantom "back end" snows will actually materialize.

This whole winter so far has been one big "back end".

Temps finally rose a little bit to 35* and is all cold rain now, no more slipping and sliding! .22" of rain so far.

Its pouring here, a lot heavier precip than I expected and radar impressive, but not fun at all. Its so warm here I don't even need a coat, doubt very much we see any backend snow.

Wind just shifted from the S to the NW here and caused a slight drop in temps. Down to 35 now. Also, 850s and 925mb temps are beginning to cool. You can notice a good jump south in the freezing line of the 850s and 925mb temps on the SPC meso page.

I like that batch of precip forming in CPA coming to the NYC metro. News mets such as Lee Goldberg mentioned it as well. 850 and 925mb temps are crashing down to the coast now.

Very last batch of precip ending as sleet here in cnj, just enough to make untreated surfaces slick, exercise caution

Hour 2 of the 1/13 3Z HRRR (which would be midnight) had a snow band of as much as 30 dbz right over me. I have been checking the weather.com and weatherbell.com radars and taking occasional peaks out the window: nothing!...

NYS DOT out salting roads here on LI in anticipation of a freeze up tonight. Use caution out on the roads tomorrow morning, especially if they have not been treated.

I had a little before the freezing rain yesterday and again a coating last night. 0.3 inches sound about right for the day?
