81 mph in Rochester.
Yes my wife has friends up there rit college closed which doesn't even happen for snow. The hww said gusts to 60mph. Another swing and a miss on underestimating winds. The damage is so bad I heard they are calling it the wind storm of the decade.

I saw on the news last night, Squaw Valley Ski Resort measured 50 feet of snow so far this Winter. They said they'll be open until July. The pictures they showed on the broadcast were amazing. I told my wife that's where I want to retire. She just rolled her eyes. Laughing

It seems like everyone I talked to today is commenting about next weeks possible storm. Doc, Cp. You know when there's this much HYPE from people and the media. It can only lead to the possibility of the KISS OF DEATH for this storm to happen. This is my biggest fear. affraid

SNOWMAN back in posting mode, I love it.

Of course that's a fear and if HM puts on the big daddy hat as he's threatening kiss it goodbye for us at least.

At least we have JB talking of 144-288 inches, even if he's way off base 100 inches seems like a certainty.

I think we are in a very (superstitiously speaking) dangerous area. Tuesday is getting close and we need to keep the faith. In that effort, I suggest we all buy lots of towels and throw them in. No mention of any kind of metal equipment that relates to seasons. No words that start with the letter that comes after "A". This can happen.

Yep, KOD indicator always reaches insane levels when the models pick up something like Tuesday. If HM puts on that hat, I'll be going to Home Depot tuesday to buy grass seed.

Wait, the "Big Daddy" hat is still around? (been a while since I checked in on HM). I agree. The hat goes on, I'm planting in my garden.

This weekend will be very challenging trying to track our mega storm. We turn the clock forward on Saturday night. So the GFS 0z run on Sunday night will be 11:30. Euro at 2am.

Ill post this here for now.  Id like to point out the current water vapor Sat imagery.  You can see all three branches of the jet stream over N America.  I am going to take some still frames as the energy for Tuesday storm enters the playing field, because regardless of the exact details I think a major system will likely come together and it will be mighty impressive to witness from this angle.

And if there is a lot of snow from Tues storm, or a lot of snow then rain, all that will melt. Preferably it will melt slowly and across time.

I am surprised how warm it is here, 32 degrees, and it is still snowing. I guess it is colder a few thousand feet above my head.
