Check out these hourly snowfall rates. Now who knows where exactly these end up but 5 inches an hour over my house. I hope I get to see it. Saw it once before in 83 and it was insane.

The GFS caving gives me even more agita. It looks great now but if it keeps trending slightly west, I'll see mainly sleet in Bellerose. IMHO, I get 6" of front end snow followed by an inch of sleet before the precip tapers off....

Many spots could rack up a foot of snow in 4-5 hours at those rates, and I may being conservative.

What I don't understand is why they haven't at the least put NYC and southern westchester in a WSW. IT's 100% they are getting more than 6 inches of snow. They can always upgrade to a blizzard warning when they are sure the winds and visibilities will warrant it.

Re: March 14, 2017 Roidzilla 1st Call Snow Map / Synopsis
Great post Frank! 0z NAM shows two competing h7 frontogenetic banding, but notice how it has two competing sloping areas of it, which would mean increased area of subsidence as you mentioned in your post, which is a function of any beast really. However, this storm will seriously stretch this atmosphere insanely, the soundings are ridiculous and the NAM's sounding for NYC metro is showing CSI and convective instability. Thundersnow baby!

Re: March 14, 2017 Roidzilla 1st Call Snow Map / Synopsis
You read my mind, a watch means nothing to anyone. The general public doesnt pay much mind to the weather, once warnings are issued people will have a work day to prepare here. Trust me there are people that are dumb enough have no clue about this storm. I have heard people all day.CPcantmeasuresnow wrote:jmanley32 wrote:So when the heck they go pop that blizzard watch to a warning, i mean for NYC east I think its pretty sure. Def am dying see the euro maps, someone if they can post the max gust map from wxbell, i wanna see if it similar to the 12z one frank posted, if no one can thats ok. I just find the winds nearing hurricane force gusts on that run is hard to believe.
Although that close in B< with sub 985mb actually I think 12z was 977? I guess winds would be that high.
