Re: March 2nd Nor'easter Update
Seems NWS is concerned about a slight westward trend in track and associated warm air aloft...
Low is progged to be roughly 50 to 100 miles w of the benchmark
at 18z. The 00Z RGEM/GFS/ECMWF, 3Z SREF and 6Z NAM make up this
grouping. The further wwd trend has increased the wind threat,
but has not made the snow/rain fcst any less complicated.
While the cooling airmass associated with the upr low evidenced
by decreasing wet bulb zero heights remains a crucial component,
the wwd trend brings warmer air aloft in as well. Because of
these two factors, snowfall totals have been lowered from
roughly the Hudson River ewd, and increased elsewhere. Over a
foot of snow is now expected for some of the higher elevations
in Orange county.

Re: March 2nd Nor'easter Update
Ended up having to go to work in West Caldwell but thinking I'm only going to be here a few hours. Going back home to Hopatcong should be interesting....
When I left Hopatcong it was snowing heavily and sticking to all surfaces including roads. Changeover occurred at about 7:15. Was 31 degrees when I departed at 7:45 this morning

Back to mainly rain here. Its back and forth. If you get under a heavy band of you can get some frozen precip, back to rain when it lightens up.

Re: March 2nd Nor'easter Update
This storm is just beginning it’s maturation process. Still a long way to go and a lot of craziness to come.

Winds are really picking up can hear them inside school. Stopped snowing but it's icy on roads. This is a more open elevated area. Excited hate having to be at work.

The various lows/vorts in different layers of the atmosphere has always confused me. Do we have any educational information in our archives explaining this?

3.2 inches on the snow board but now back to mixed snow and sleet.
It's gonna be a long day trying to stay on top of this.

Here is a discussion about deformation bands or CCB cold air conveyer belt. This will happen with this storm a storm the maturation process continues.

Re: March 2nd Nor'easter Update
I think Mt Holly should have Poconos under blizzard warning.
Winds are gusting to at least 35 and visibility under 1/4 mile with heavy snow. Going to need more than a standard ruler to measure it when done I think.

Crippo84- I have no idea, maybe RB can answer that.
Look at that massive precip shield moving west from Ma and Rhode Island coast.

Re: March 2nd Nor'easter Update
Heavy sleet/snow here now 36. I just can’t see this accumulating down here, unless we get a layer of sleet down under it first. Then all bets are off

Re: March 2nd Nor'easter Update
I just peeked at the radar. I swear I see heavy deformation bands setting up exactly where the 3kNAM had them in its runs the last 24 hours. Maybe it verifies.

I think we will see some mixing depending on intensity of precip but I'm going to enjoy it piling up right now. Heavy snow right now.
