i wouldn't give up until your NWS gives a reason
Frank has failed me in my time of need... Anyone have a tide pod?
Let the storm play out. No doubt there is an east shift in track, but some of the banding may still get into your area
I will trust the HRRR, and I was on the edge to begin with so I was already in a bad place... Any shift east was a death sentence...

First time I can use this phrase for this storm-- HEAVY snow now in Hopatcong. Accumulating quickly.

frank 638 wrote:Light rain occasionally mixed with snow getting very light out why does it look like the sun wants to try to come out and what time is this storm really supposed to be cranking
There are a few breaks in the radar, but it will fill in when it starts cranking about lunchtime....

I am at the stage now where I’m not even trying to figure out what WILL happen. It’s going to happen either way in the next 8-10 hours, so I’m just watching the radar to see what IS happening and what is incoming in the very short term.

And that's how you handle snowstorms in the Tri State area.NOTHING is sure until the day of the storm and you see 6 to 8 plus hours of 1 to 2 inch snow rates on the radar.Look at how this last minute 20 to 40 mile shift S and E is affecting the snow totals!

are you close to Mattiuk?sroc4 wrote:dsix85 wrote:Sroc- what do you think for Manorville?
You and I are in a tough spot. Your like 3-5 miles south of me. Eastern suffolk is really a toss up in my mind. But the latest observations, yes syo I think the current position of the secondary surface Low is EF east of all guidance from yesterday, tell me that we may be in for some surprises, as it looks like the heaviest banding over LI comes in mid to late afternoon when sun angle begins to go down rapidly. We may be in for some serious surprises but Im just not 100% confindent in calling a lock at all.

Re: Pain in the Butt March 7th Godzilla: Observations
Had a coating of snow on the coldest surfaces this morning then some light drizzle for a couple of hours now it's snowing light to moderate melting on contact we definitely lost 2 to 3 in of snow due to the warm surface and March Sun so all those snowfall maps that we saw yesterday and this morning you can reduce that amount and probably more until we get into the good Banding

And ironically on the eastern fringe of this board I went from an inch at best to 10-12"
LOL, Jimmy threw in the towel on this storm.

I just woke up, ran to the window, shoved the curtains apart and believe I suffered a heart attack. I've never scrolled faster thru the pages on here to make sure this beast didn't pull a fast one. Folks are gonna be shocked on their way home later.

About 15 for me. Your actually only about 15-16 as well. As the crow flys. I just measured it on my radar scope app. Semantics probably
