...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
2 AM EDT WEDNESDAY...
...FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM
EDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 10 to 20 mph with
gusts up to 50 mph expected. For the Freeze Warning, sub-
freezing temperatures as low as 26 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut
and southeast New York.

* WHEN...For the Wind Advisory, from 5 PM this afternoon to 2 AM
EDT Wednesday. For the Freeze Warning, from midnight tonight to
9 AM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.
Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may
result. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

Tornado warning here!! With a ton hail. Winds did not really get crazy. Knocked out my zoom session with a parent. Luckily doesn't look like there was a actual tornado.

Had a 10-15 minute Graupel deluge as I was walking my dog at 7:30. Winds were vicious for this time of year,, cold and gusty as it blew threw.

28 degrees this morning and surprisingly high winds - at least to me. I heard gusts during the night that woke me up. I saw 12 mph but the wind chimes were ringing. They need 25-ish to sound. The dog's extra water bowls had ice in them. Funny to see the dog expecting water and wind up licking the ice.

That one particular line yesterday around 2:30-3 pm was wicked. Like you guys mentioned the temp drop, the wind and the hail, and the ominous clouds that rolled in...

Totally felt like tornado-ready conditions. And it lasted for all of 5-10 minutes. Pretty cool...and very impressive!

38°, high winds and sunny skies at high noon on April 22nd.

I repeat where was this patter January through March when I would have enjoyed the cold.

Anything that flowered three weeks premature is pretty much dead from the last several days.

31 degrees for my low and watch narrow band of snow n sleet run across eps to Manhattan.
April 23rd. Incredible. Welcome to the Grand Solar Minimum. The arctic is warmed and it has dislodged and broke up the Polar Vortex. That cold air has gone into Russia and North America these last few weeks and a couple more to go 😳!

AND where was this for our winter - 4-5 months to late ARGGHH!! Te Sea Surface Temperatures
The red blob in the NE Pacific up by Alaska is reminiscent of the 13-14 and 14-15 winters and the waters in the tropical pacific are in prime shape for an active cold adn snowy pattern for the eastern US - what could have been!

Was waiting for the official report on this event - this happened about half a mile from my house.  I knew something was coming and heard the famous freight train sound but I was looking out my back door facing north - this happened to my south so I did not get to see the sky in that direction.  I drove through the area yesterday and saw the damage first hand - crazy as the damage was visible to trees and homes in an area about 200' wide with no signs of damage to either side.  we followed the line across the neighborhoods for about 1.5 miles then the damage stopped.  I sketched a google earth map of the line with my house pointed out.

Public Information Statement
National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ
333 PM EDT Wed Apr 22 2020

...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ON APRIL 21...

Severe thunderstorms that moved through the area during the
afternoon hours on April 21st produced wind gusts in the 60 to 80
MPH range, blowing down trees and damaging numerous homes and other
structures across central and southern New Jersey.

Based on pictures, video clips, and eyewitness accounts provided by
local emergency management officials and the general public, in
conjunction with radar and other weather observations recorded when
the storms moved through, the National Weather Service has concluded
this damage was caused by straight-line winds associated with a
strong cold front moving rapidly toward the coast Tuesday afternoon.
This includes damage in Haddon Heights in Camden County, Toms River
in Ocean County, and Lawrenceville in Mercer County.  Damage in the
Normandy Beach area of Monmouth County is still under investigation,
awaiting additional information.  Small-scale circulations were seen
and recorded immediately ahead of the advancing cold front, which in
some cases induced waterspouts over a few back bays and oceanfront
areas, but were not strong enough to cause the damage experienced by
numerous communities across the state.

The National Weather Service would like to thank local, state, and
other public safety officials in providing valuable observations and
eyewitness accounts which made this assessment possible.  These
conclusions are preliminary and are subject to change if and when
additional information comes to our attention.

@skisea thank God you are okay and nothing happened to your property. That is crazy. Had that happen hear back in 2008(?) And it was about 400' wide swath about 1/3 mil long.

And why are we having so many tornadoes and severe weather out breaks? You have tremendously cold air aloft (-10 C) clashing with very warm, moist Gulf of Mexico air and BAMMMM!! It will continue for a few more weeks.
And this brings up an early season Hcane threat
for this region.

Confirmed an EF-0 Totrnado over Normandy Beach Tuesday
We have confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down in Normandy Beach, NJ during severe thunderstorms on Tuesday. The tornado began as a waterspout over Barnegat Bay, moved onshore briefly as a tornado, then back offshore as a waterspout. https://t.co/0usMfWGQ0O #NJwx https://t.co/BFN57oDw5B

Things just keep getting worse! Your telling me through Mid May we will be seeing night lows into 20s and 30s-40s during day!!! That is very abnormal.  I understand that it actually is not that far off on temps right now but mid may should be in 70s not Dec/jan weather!!!

and guess what today was 61* sunny and beautiful and everyone was out as if nothing going on..people walking with no masks passing other people on the side walk and no distance ..kids playing in the neighborhood...ugggh this is not going to end...at least if you are not going to social distance wear a mask!!!...I was out to take the dog to the vet...they are really good..not allowed in they pick up the dog from your car and they bring a wipe to wipe down the handle after they are done... wearing a mask and gloves and you are wearing your mask...but roads were full of cars grocery store, lowes, all packed like a normal
Saturday...I went to get gas and people were going into quick check with no masks on..and were not thrown out...just sad..
