I'm just a tad north of you and you can hear it occasionally but its very intermittent. Actually kind of weird tbh, never seen a mix like that. If warm air trying to move in above its struggling to do so.
Yeah I'm not used to it. Usually when I hear this much sleet, it means the snow has completely gone over to sleet, but I'm getting like a 50-50 mix of both -- and both very heavy. Sometimes it fades completely back to snow and I don't hear the sleet at all. Then it kicks up again.

Central Park at 8pm with .43 Le at 10 to 1 ratio that's 4.3 in but I would believe ratios are a little higher right now so they should have at least five or more inches

For some locations, this is the difference between 3 inches or 10, 6 inches or 12, 12 inches or 18, etc. The 18z NAM was an absolute whopper with blitzing snow, and it happens to be in between the GFS/HRRR.
Meanwhile, an impressive upper level jet streak has developed over New England. Between this feature and the HP, I feel pretty good about the low taking a more eastern track. I think the GFS is way off, but time will tell.
Keep this in mind...

Didn't start in earnest until 6:30 here and the 8 pm measurement 2.2 inches at 19.6 degrees.
This stuff is accumulating quickly. Gonna try to take hourly measurements to just see how intense these bands are.

No sooner do I speak than I go over almost entirely to sleet. And it is a wind driven sleet. If I poked my head outside right now I'd have no skin left on my face. So I won't.

Good theorizing Al but as you well know what falls in the Park often doesn't agree to what they officially post.
Let's hope for the best.

If I take that drastic step, I'll post pictures. You know, for science. Assuming the damage to my eyes allows me to still operate my phone's camera.

7.5" here so far. Warm nose at about 800mb mixed the snow with pingers. Soundings said it would be 32 but must have been a hair over. Once a snow crystal melts you don't get it back LOL. All other layers plenty cold.
Hopefully I can get some more as the storm pulls a bit further away.

Same boat here. Also getting a little bit of the dry slot here. Hoping to go back to snow later in the evening.

Not doing much up here. Maybe a couple of inches. 18 degrees. I thought we’d see a big storm. So far it has not shown up

Re: 12/16-12/17 Godzilla: Final Snow Map & Obsevations
Models nailed this dry slot
Radar looks pretty 'ok' but we'll need to give it a little and see if precip fills in, and where the low decides to track to
