WE DID IT IN NJ - ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE PEEPS!

Doc remembers he great 1899 East Coast Arctic Gale right? Maybe Grey beard of CP? It snowed 6" -36" from Tallahassee Fla up to Newfoundland - Arctic temperature were reported as far south as...CUBA well freezing temps!

Yep, this was 11 years after the 1888 Blizzard so I remember it well,LOL.
All kidding aside, this storm was truly amazing. It snowed over 40 hours here of varying intensities.Looks like NW NJ was the jackpot area.It was a blast for the board!Looks like a couple more up on deck.

Sorry I haven’t posted since “The Big One”, but I just haven’t had a chance to, and my posting is gonna be pretty limited for a while because of work and dealing with the aftermath of all of the flooding we had down here and resulting cleanup. That said, I want to congratulate both Frank and Bill on their forecasts. I think if you blended them, the threat score would have been very high. My ideas for this one definitely fell flat. Mixing did occur, but not as quickly as I had expected, and my expected H5 evolution definitely busted. The confluence did its dirty work, and I’m going to be working on a hypothesis as to why my ideas busted.

In any case, I have confirmed that had my parents been measuring according to NWS guidelines, they would have measured a total of over 40”. The snow had maintained a depth of 30” starting at at around 9am Tuesday morning, but where they had plowed and shoveled previously, they had accumulated another 7-9” by Wednesday morning. Accounting for the additional compaction that was undoubtedly occurring before Tuesday at around 9am, this would easily make up the extra 1-3” needed to eclipse 40”. Just an incredible storm, and to have TWO 40”+ storms IN THE SAME GENERAL AREA IN THE SAME SEASON is exceedingly rare. I hope we see that again. No matter what, it was a heck of a fun track with you all that certainly offered a multitude of learning opportunities for everybody. ONTO THE NEXT ONE!!!

Also, if our mods leave this thread open, I will do my best to trickle some pictures in that my mom sent me. Had I been there to experience it, this would have eclipsed my all-time favorite snow storm: Christmas Day 2002. We picked up 32” from that one, and this once trounced it.
