The remaining light is eerie. Still air. It is really dropping fast into darkness especially considering sunset is right about now. Should be a good show based on the radar.

I wasn't sure I was in the right place with the purple background and flowers lol thought it was a spam site. Look at tonight and tomorrow. Gonna be howling, last winds topped 60mph in some spots, says that could be possible again. I am hoping coast is just rain Wed as we are headed to the casino in CT for 2 nights.

Wow, what a night! Heard a big old "zzzzzzzzzap" sound as the that last line passed through. A tree took a line down on the old train line a block away and nearly caught the old train station on fire in Glen Ridge. The flashing and the zapping sounds were intense.

Reminds me of Sandy when transformers in my neighborhood were sparking and blowing.Any idea of the name of the old train line there Pete? That kind of stuff is a hobby of mine.

47 degrees, cloudy, howling wind.Feels like winter again today.Possible snow showers Thursday and cool.

Yeah Doc, I'll never forget all the flashes from the transformers blowing during Sandy. I hope I never see anything like that again.

It's the Benson Street station in Glen Ridge that was on the Boonton Line to Hoboken that closed in 2002. The station itself was sold to someone who maintains it like it's a fairy house.
https://baristanet.com/2012/05/benson-street-stations-fairytale-ending/

The line is about five houses from me, and the station is on the other side of the old Bloomfield cemetery that I live across from. It was originally the New York & Greenwood Lake Railroad, owned by the Erie RR. Norfolk Southern still owns the line, but plans are now in the works to buy the line from them and turn it into a rail trail called the the Essex Hudson Greenway, running from Montclair to Jersey City. I've been involved in the local effort to support buying the line and to raise money for the rail trail.

The separation of parts of the town of Bloomfield into Glen Ridge and Montclair are directly related to the establishment of this line back in the late 1800s. I'm not a train buff, but I'm definitely engaged in the local history of the area. Especially the Morris Canal.

You a train buff or history buff? Or both?

Got cold out, am missing those nice days we had. I took the cover off our AC guess I did that too early. I am ready for sustained warmth, anyone with me? The wind was fierce last night but not as bad as the last one and it was very short lived def did not last till 4pm today, did not even last till morning.

I'm not liking the return to the 40's at night. Taking the garbage out in the cold sucks. Looking at Thursday, the Yankees are going to be cold Opening Day. But that's ok, I'm a Mets fan and I don't care if they freeze! lol

53 with rain right now, but there's a Winter Weather Advisory with predictions of 4-7". Old Man Winter keeps coming back for more. He's the Jason Voorhees of weather.

34* this morning. The WWA busted to barely a coating. However, looking out the window at the snow on the branches reminded me that for as much as I like the sun and the warmth, there's something special about winter.
