Re: July Obs. & Discussions
so while you were having some awesome storms here yesterday, I was sitting in PNC Park in a light drizzle last night. Temps in the low 60's and windy, I was FREEZING! Considering it was hot and muggy in the morning, I'm sure to come down with a cold in a day or 2.... looking forward to a warmer dry week this week.

Here comes the smoke from the fires out west.
Nothing new with this.
Nothing new with this.
The density of smoke in the lowest 10m of the atmosphere (that’s where we are) will increase later today. This will result in visibly hazy conditions and poor air quality throughout the NYC Metro. Take it easy out there. pic.twitter.com/F2aCRdOTOX

Re: July Obs. & Discussions
It rained here steady and hard for eight minutes around 11 am. So far that was it. I finished a curtain drain around the house. I was hoping to see it in use. A good test of heavy rain and all that.
I am afraid to wish for rain given what happened in Germany and now in China.

That map showed all of southern Jersey with some potential to 'cash in' on the heat wave. Luckily as of this morning, the 15 day Shorecast looks rather mild, especially after this weekend. Only 2-3 days with a high temp expected to hit 85 or higher. I'm sure a few of those days will be low humidity...this Wednesday looks particularly pleasant.
I grew up in South Florida where you don't have nice summer days. And summer starts the day spring break ends and it stops some 6-7 months later and the only break you get is when there is a significant tropical storm nearby. Then the day before/after could be beautiful! Otherwise, we just wait for that magical morning in late October/early November when you walk outside and the humidity doesn't instantly attack your skin and hair! Ha ha.
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Just got another tornado warning on my phone - not sure if this is a repeat of the prior warning, or a new one.
Interestingly, I have channel 7 on, and they are saying the tornado warnings are for Hunterdon and Essex counties. I am in Morris county, so who is wrong?
edit: There is no current tornado warning from NWS in my area of Morris County, so obviously the alert system is messed up!

One of those tornados was not far south of me, maybe about ten miles near New Hope PA. We just had torrential rains and lightning here. The one that hit Bensalem PA and moved into Mercer Co looks very devastating. Saw images of a car dealership torn to shreds.

Well the SPC got it right for central and southern NJ, got barely anything here in NNJ. A few rumbles of thunder, no wind, and .36" of rain.... My Mom is vacationing in Spring Lake, and I called to make sure she was on the first floor in the interior of the building, was a close call there.

Yes, a beautiful night last night and a beautiful day today. It got down to 49 here. I was outside early, around 6 am but I had to go back in at 8 to warm up. Tonight, it may be 47. A reminder fall is coming
