Just moved to sw florida from Long Island, followed all of you for years.
What are your thoughts regarding this potential threat headed this way?

Hello jtswife. I am, like you, a follower of this site and by no means do I claim to have any sort of expert opinion. I can however, recommend the website that most use regarding the tropics, tropicaltidbits.com run by Dr. Levi Cowan. He gives a very thorough explanation of things developing and their potential path. His videos are very informational and easy to follow. Between that website and our experts here you should be in good shape as to what's going on in the tropics.

With that being said, there does seem to be potential for some development for a system heading your way in the near future. There are many variables still on the table, nothing written in stone, but definitely don't let your guard down.

Where exactly are you in sw Florida? I hope you enjoy your new relocation, it is a major life change. Best of luck in your new home, I have been considering making a similar move myself. Stay safe.

Thank you so much for the info. I am in Port Charlotte florida between tampa and fort myers. I live on a canal and it is just amazing. I do understand nothing is in stone but everything I have been reading sounds like we might just get this think almost head on. I love following weather so this will be interesting!!
Again thanks so much

I was just watching Levi's latest video on tropical tidbits, give it a look. You can go to the 10:00 mark and he discusses the potential for the system that might affect your area.

Must be nice being on a canal, just watch out for the alligators-something you didn't have to worry about on Long Island.

Hey there JTSWife. Without question Id keep a very close eye on this system. Landfall would roughly be early to mid week with details still very much fuzzy. Technically it isnt a tropical storm yet, but has been upgraded from an Invest to a tropical depression as of yesterday. TD9 to be exact. Its still under the influence of significant NEasterly sheer from Fiona's outflow, but that will change over the next 24-48hrs and TD9 will likely quickly get its act together. Grey beard is correct about the trop tidbits site. Its second to none IMO regarding tropical strorm analysis. I have been following and learning from Dr. Levi Cowan for years. Here is the direct link to his weather videos regarding the latest tropical threats. Id imagine he will be producing an updated video daily now that this is becoming a real threat for the mainland. We will cotine to post about this storm in the tropics thead for the time being with perhaps it getting its own thread soon.

What are your thoughts regarding this potential threat headed this way?

Hi jtswife, my brother is in Cape Coral, and a neighbor of mine here in NJ just moved to Port Charlotte, so I will be watching this closely as well! Ditto on following our gang here and Levi, all great resources.
