3/18 to 3/19 Final Call Snow Map, Storm Observations Thread
This is a very trough forecast because most areas will start as snow but change to rain. However, some areas specifically to the north and west may change back to snow. This is preliminary map. I may hold off on a final until Monday morning.

Be advised:
I'm NOT changing my 1st call snow map. I'm keeping it my final call.

I think Franks final call map needs to bring the C-1" line south a tad through the northern 1/3 of LI. Also a secondary wave has been popping up on models over the last 24-36hrs for the wed-Thurs time frame. It appears to mostly slide south and east before it strengthens but it needs to be monitored for potential surprise snow for eastern sections including LI, RI, SE Ct. The NAM seems to be the most aggressive with the precip into the area.

It has the inverted trough look to it. Most other models have the precip shield pass to our south and east keeping us dry, but IMO needs to be watched.

I'm at around 3/4 of an inch of snow and probably near .10 inches of ice.
A new area of low pressure is beginning to form off the coast. Check out the image on the right

Overall,
This storm over performed for some areas. Not too bad.

Re: 3/18 to 3/19 Final Call Snow Map, Storm Observations Thread
Had some really nice snow falling between about 7-11pm last night before it started to mix with sleet and eventually all rain overnight. By 11 pm last night I had just a smidge over 1" with even the roads covered on the north shore of Suffolk County LI. It looks like there was enough cold air damning that held on long enough to bring the minor accumulations a bit farther south than forecasted.

Final snowfall is a little over 5" in West Milford. That is with the nice thin coating of ice already on top....
