Frank You should be saying Monday and Tuesday will be the best. Bring on the cold already I've seen enough above normal days for a lifetime.

Kind of OT, but I want to make sure everyone remembers to check out the other 4 "sub-forums" under the NJ Strong Weather Discussion Forum. There is "Weather Education," "Storm Archives," "Vacation Weather," and "Broken Records."
I just updated the Broken Records sub-forum. Please read the "About Broken Records" thread to see what this section is about and how it should be used. Here is a latest example from Math and Dtone.

Down to 29° and looking like I won't see 40° for a while. I'm glad the cold is finally here, but I'm on call Monday night and if we go out I'm gonna freeze my arse off!

At 956 PM EST... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
snow squall... near Rhinebeck moving east southeast at 35 mph.
* The snow squalls will be near...
Stanfordville around 1015 PM EST.
Millbrook around 1020 PM EST.
Dover Plains around 1025 PM EST.
Other locations impacted by the snow squalls include Lincoln Park.
These snow squalls will produce poor visibility and snow covered
roadways.
This will impact portions of Interstate 87... the New York state
thruway... between exits 19 and 21.

The 0Z RGEM for next Sunday showing precipitation between 1 PM and 4 PM when the Jets are scheduled to play in Buffalo against the Bills, which is a big game for the Jets. Looks like lake-effect snow will occur during this time.

That says Maximum temperature, meaning the highest temperature between 1 AM and 7 AM Tuesday, not the lowest which the Minimum temperature would show. This is still cold though, especially considering how warm the last two months have been.

Re: January 2016 Observations and Discussions
Yeah I wanted to show Max since people are probably curious about their morning commute temp. The min is probably realized between 4-6a sometime.
It's going to be windy across New England and NY state this week. Big Mid-Atlantic High will keep us dry with sun, something we've been missing.

What a joke I just watch The Weather Channel I don't know why and they said after this brief cold shot it will get little milder during the middle of the week but then it get colder by next weekend.
Also they said this Jan will be above average in temp for much of the country what a joke

Hi Frank (good name by the way),
You'll notice we have a banter thread. We like to keep posts like these in those type of threads since they don't pertain to actual weather observations. Anyone who wishes to talk about other Mets or TV Networks, do so in the banter thread. Helps keeps this place organized.
Back to your point though, I think TWC has it right. Our brief cold shot happens this week from Monday-Tuesday then we get to seasonable weather. Another brief mild shot next weekend and then after that, we get cold again (which is when we're tracking a possible storm between the 11th-13th).
I'm not sure January ends up milder than normal. In my Winter outlook I think I said average to slightly above average. I probably would lean on average right now.

That would be great. I feel like I wake up on another planet sometimes where the sun never shines.

Yeah I believe after Tuesday it does moderate some and when I say some I think a degree or two above avg. Then back to the cold by weekend if I'm not mistaken
