18* and clear as the sun gets ready to peak its head out. I suppose at some point today Jonas will begin spreading a layer of high cirrus our way before lowering and thickening to altostratus as he makes his approach.

Re: January 2016 Observations and Discussions
Like many others, I am suspicious of the conservancy's 26.8" hours after the 25.1" measurement. But let's take it as it is. CPK is now at 27.2" of snow for January making it the 3rd snowiest January on record and the 8th snowiest MONTH on record. And three of the seven snowiest months on record have occurred this decade: February 2010 (36.9"), January 2011 (36.0"), and February 2014 (29.0").
As I mentioned earlier today, if this is it for the winter, I would not be too upset. But it will be interesting as to how the potential upcoming snowstorm plays out.

Re: January 2016 Observations and Discussions
I suspect the measure ever 6 hrs or so on a snow board. If only a few more inches fell alot of it could of easily blew away..espically since it was a fluffy snow. It'd be nice if considering the historical circumstances they just measured those last few inches right away. It is what it is though. JFK had 30.5, EWR & LGA both couple more inches than CPK.
DC having their measurement called into question but by a larger amount. The airport supposedly admitted to not following NWS standards. Came in several inches less than many surrounding measurements

Does anyone have a link to a radar loop of the entire storm? That would be interesting to see.

Re: January 2016 Observations and Discussions
This is still eating away at me. I've gotta let it go.
The irritating part is the 7pm readings were 24.5 for laguardia, 25.5 for Newark and 25.1 for central park. So after 7pm CPK which is smack in the middle of Newark and LaGuardia had half the snow they did? I watched the radar, it wasn't the case. The Conservancy did a good job with the storm, than dropped the ball at the end. I should keep my mouth shut or they'll bring back the zookeeper, this would have been measured at 19.9 under the old regime.

Remember when the December CFS was showing a blowtorch for January? Such a horrid seasonal model.

Okay this is nitpicking after half of our area just had 20-35 inches of snow but we are still above average temperature wise for the month although nothing like December but from that map it looks like the northeast is the only area of the country above. I will make that trade off for a monster blizzard, at least for some. ,
