Woke up at 5:30 to about 2 inches of snow on the ground and rain hitting my windows. The WU page is telling me:
Expect occasional mixed precipitation to continue for the next several hours.
About 5:45am it changed back to snow.

I'm taking a brief nap. I'll get up at 7/7:15 when it's daylight and I can better assess what is going on outside my window. By then the heavier bands should be here.

Sleet here South shore of li for last hour.bout2 to 3 inches of snow. Really sad to see snow go.

Thanks Scott, I'm hoping I can share in it with as many as possible and praying I don't go to sleet at some point.
Seems we still can't get that elusive storm where everyone on here celebrates. Those are rare I guess, we cover a big area.

Saw sroc post so figured I would too. 5" here just heard my first sleet mixed in. If this is it biggest bust ever. I mean it's only 6:20. That's 6 hours ahead of schedule for any mixing

Yep all the wishcasters mocked the NAM and here it is leading the pack again. When will they learn.

Got some rest woke to all snow, but its not super heavy, def not crazy rates, but I see the heaviest is just working into the area, that R/S line is ever so close hopefully it can stay south of me. I would say a inch or two maybe, how places at same latitude have 5 or so I do not get. I am not sure to be downed or happy with what I am seeing.

on second look its a few inches maybe 3. ard tell it is blowing but winds are light.

When you have convective elements in a coastal system it isn't the best idea to throw out a convective allowing model. The convective feedback that global models suffered from in early stages was not ever present on mesoscale higher resolution guidance such as the RGEM or any of the NAMS.CPcantmeasuresnow wrote:syosnow94 wrote:Hmmmmm. 8 in Hopewell jct heavy snow at 23 forecast here around 18 to 24 but the word sleet is now in my forecast.

30 degrees here in Deer Park with rain and sleet. 2.5 inches in the ground. Sad day here on Long Island, you inland folks enjoy your storm, you've had to watch us take the trophy many times so I'm happy for you all!
