Post Just Final March 7 Storm totals here.
https://www.njstrongweatherforum.com/t902-march-7th-2018-snow-maps-only#130579
What's needed upon the conclusion of the event?
1. Total snow and sleet combined to the nearest .1" (if possible), rainfall to the nearest .01" (if possible), ice accretion to the nearest .01" if possible. Best guesses are also ok provided they are relatively close .
2. State
3. County (optional)
3. Town/municipality/city/CDP/etc. where the measurement was taken
23.5 inches Highland Mills in Orange County NY as per me
24.2 inches as per NWS trained spotter in Highland Mills - I made my two feet I can rest now

Re: Post Just Final March 7 Storm totals here.
Love this post by our own Mikey (Math) on why NYC recorded low amounts.
In terms of surface temperatures, this storm has similarities to the 10/29/11 snow event. In that event, 1.79" of liquid precipitation fell as snow (which using the 10:1 ratio would be 17.9" of snow). But because temperatures were in the 33-34 degree range for much of the storm and the temperature never went below 33 degrees, the official snow measurement was 2.9". Which makes it a ~1.62:1 snow ratio storm. Areas north and west of the city, which were a tad colder, saw much higher snow amounts.
Now, through 7 PM, 1.21" of liquid precipitation fell as snow. The lowest temperature was 33 degrees, just like 10/29/11. Also, we had a good chunk of the snow fall during the day under the March sun. With the official snowfall measurement through 7 PM of 2.5", the snow ratio would be ~2.07:1. I think the reason why the ratio was a tad higher today than it was from 10/29/11 is that today's snow came at a bit higher intensity than that one.

Ditto, that dry slot came during what would have been the most intense 2 hours of the storm.

Somerville: 8.25”. (I’m ignoring this absurd NWS measurement rule discussed in the other thread. Deduct the 1/2” if you see fit).

Re: Post Just Final March 7 Storm totals here.
I really think it's time we take into account the Urban Heat island effect that major metro areas like NYC have on surrounding snow accumulations. I would argue and science backs it up, that urban areas like Newark, NYC, Yonkers radiate extra heat and cut down on accumulations in their neighboring towns, especially those within 10 miles. This only affects the aforementioned areas during marginal temperature events after warm days preceeding the snowfall. TIME TO BUILD THIS INTO OUR SNOW FORECASTS!!

Everyone. rb924119 aka Ray, aka Ray Ray is still working on his project. If you are going to post in here for the first time, or if you have already posted please go to the first post of this thread or see bolded below to see what information he is asking for for his project. Ray I have added the link to the maps section in the first post of the thread for easy reference.
Wading River, Suffolk County, NY, Brookhaven township
Snow/sleet total = 9.2"
