AL, that is great news and I hope you and J Man really cash in.
Still nothing here, a few flurries, a coating at best.

3.6" and mod snow, 34 degrees, up a degree in last hour.

Need this to rotate through east. Otherwise central NJ and eastern PA jackpot again. I’ll keep the faith

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
Thanks Bill. I think I got confused because I am used to blue being the color of snow precip on most maps, so I saw dark blue and thought “snow” rather than “nothing.” *smacks forehead*@billg315 wrote:Brownie, also note the radar I posted is high res so it picks up well on the difference between dry areas and heavy precip. And you may have other radars that would actually show snow over that dry slot so that you might think it’s snowing by looking at the radar but you look out the window and it’s not. Some radars do better at picking up what’s really reaching the ground vs what is just falling aloft. Hope that helps.
For what it’s worth, it has been snowing here all day, since I first looked out at 6 am. It is now, finally, starting to look like it may amount to something.

@weatherwatchermom wrote:@Frank_Wx wrote:The southern-most low will soon begin feeling the affects of the closed 500mb low entering the Mid-Atlantic. Question is, can this low remain close enough to the coast so it can be tugged west a bit. Or at least stall.
Question back what is the time frame of knowing this answer? Asking not to complain we are going to get what we get just curious
I know the answer now.
Here is the 500mb closed vort over VA

And we now have a well defined 994mb low east of DE

Isobars suggest the low will drift NNE, and the NW flank of the precip shield will be greatly enhanced once the 700mb low moves closer to our area

NYC already at 4.5" of snow
I remain confident they will hit the 10-15" range I forecasted

Eyeballing about 2" out there. We are now past solar noon and the sun angle will decrease through the rest of the day. Might not be so bad that the heaviest precip was delayed and happening later in the day. Long way to go

Approaching 3 in, in favorable snow growth temp range at 850 mb of -3 to -5 C per SPC meso scale. Snow weight is light and powdery.
If people want to learn about real life forecasting , watch the radar and see the SPC meso scale map updates. Look, see and learn.

Look at the directional point of the 850 mb and 700 mb. Looks like system will move more ENE to NE rather than more east from the coast. Similar to when Hurricane gets an elongated point and moves in that direction.

That is the best news I've heard all day.
Awesome I was always in this one for the stats anyway, and that means the Conservancy is actually on the job measuring.
Nothing here but I don't really care.
