September 2018 Observations and Discussions

That was the most intense rain I think I have ever seen, it was actuallyt whiteout conditions. Lots of flooding but it dispersed pretty quickly once it let up. Lots of lightning. Only some light gusts.

Lots of ctg lightning, 1.64" of rain, but still muggy as heck!

Awesome lighting show here on Long Island, was driving home watching it all.

We had no lightning, no thunder - just around 10 minutes of a very heavy downpour, and then it was gone.

Fall feel Sunday morning and day - heck so will Saturday after what we've experienced so far!

A happy harbinger, frost warnings up in northern Maine.Forgot what it was like to have a nice cool, cloudy day after the tropics of the last few months.

One thing not to overlook with all eyes on Florence: we have some MAJOR rains coming this way in the next 48 hours. The radar is alive this morning with Gordon’s moisture interacting with this frontal system. Maybe several inches in some places. I think we will see a lot of flooding from that alone. Get your sump pumps ready. This also becomes relevant (saturated ground, full streams/rivers) if Florence or her remnants bring heavy rain at weeks end. If we get flooding rain in the next 48 hours and then several more inches from Florence - we could see catastrophic flooding at weeks end. Just something to keep an eye on.

When is this rain coming? Just some showers Saturday. Also my gosh it was 60 degrees here all day felt cold. I saw people in sweatshirts!

I woke up this morning at 4:30am to rain and 57 degrees. I AM wearing my sweats today!

I know we're all excited tracking Florence but has anyone notice how close the 540 line comes to us as she departs. There could be some very chilly weather in 7 to 10 days if model trends hold and it's on most guidance as of now

Chilly now! Feels like April Opening Day at CitiField!

Wonderful cool, crisp day yesterday as my Wife and I visited an apple orchard in Walden NY.People wearing light jackets.Luckily we were on the northern fringe of the rain so it was just cloudy but with a breeze, it was chilly.A great break from the awful steambath this summer was with those high dew points.Today it's raining lightly, 51 degrees.Interesting to see how the hurricane will effect us, if any.At this juncture, the projected path is way south of me in the HV but the crew here is noticing a northern shift.Stay tuned......

Looks like most of this week we'll see overcast and rainy conditions. Mannaggia!

59* with a soaking rain here. Ground is definitely saturated at this point. Hope the remnants of Florence stay south or west of us because we sure don't need any more rain. (well west of us, because the Susquehanna Valley in PA doesn't need any more rain either after this summer).

57 degrees with a soaking rain Eastwind at 16 with Gusts to 36mph over an inch of rain fell so far from yesterday afternoon. we get tropical storms here all the time in the Northeast except they don't have names. they are forecasting wind gusts in the 40-plus miles per hour range today
