Seaside Heights NJ Boardwalk On Fire

Kohr's custard shop has collapsed and other buildings are in jeopardy. There is a south wind helping the fire spread across the boardwalk.

This is so sad

Something just dosnt want us to rebuild down here.....

This is absolutely terrible. After all that hard work to rebuild the boardwalk its currently getting destroyed by a stupid fire and off course today there is that firefighter convention in wildwood, nj so that just makes things even worse...its devastating that the boardwalk I would go to every day as a kid is being destroyed once again.

watching channel 7...it just unbelievable..........i cant take it..

Supposedly its continuing to spread by the moment, and there having trouble getting adequate water their....

It is like its cursed or something. Unbelievable.

All 10 trucks from my town just speed down the street.

Just got home from school. I can't believe this fire is still going.

I am heartbroken.

How much is really damaged I wonder?

The breach in the board walk was dug about 9 blocks north from the start of the fire, thats about 25-30 stores and a lot of boardwalk. It wont spread anymore hopefully........

Total devastation the last few blocks of the boardwalk. These buildings survived Sandy, had just been renovated inside..and now this. I am so glad I was down there just a few weeks ago and able to support the community. I think they said 32 businesses are gone....

Just so sad to see that terrible fire in the picture above.However, Jersey people are tough and resilient and no matter how tough it gets, we always bounce back.The boardwark and pavillions WILL be back in action for next year.The only silver lining here is that it happened after the season ended so there will be plenty of time to rebuild.PRAY for a nice, quiet Autumn season storm wise so these folks down there can catch their breath.

What a frickin' shame - -the Jersey Shore is cursed for some reason. We've had a tropical storm (Irene), superstorm (Sandy), a tsunami (June) and now a devastating fire - what next? Doc excellent wise point about the timing - a friend of a friend who owned a shop (t-shirt) down there- he is shock and can't believe what just happened and told my friend he is basically done, just opened before Memorial Day. MN please no storms!
