LOL, well I sure appreciate this guy for making the error of errors in the World Series of 1986.The Red Sox had us beat and they were opening champaign bottles in the clubhouse,LOL.I was watching tyhis game and could not believe Buckner booted that can of corn ground ball.

Well, first test of a four game series with one of the best teams in baseball, was a dismal failure, losing 3 out of 4.Mets are a third or fourth place team again.Hope it changes in September, but not getting my hopes up.

Looking forward to the Subway Series this year. The Yanks have a great team this year and I want to see how we stand up against them.Should be a lot of fun for the fans of both clubs.

Great first part of the Subway Series, two games where each kicked the others arses so Fans of both teams had fun.

Watching this team these days is like getting a root canal.Leading 5 to 2 and the bullpen blows yet another game.Solidly in fourth place heading for the basement. This team is broken from the top down.Only glimmer that keeps me interested in baseball is the good possibility of a classic Yankee-Dodger World Series. Both teams doing great.I'm glad for all the Yankee Fans on our board, Frank, CP and whoever else I didn't mention.

So yeah, a really bad week. Silver lining? I attended the dedication of Seaver Way, saw some of the players from the '69 team, and am attending all 3 games this weekend. Yes they lost tonight too, but they had a lot of cool nostalgic stuff going on. The scoreboard was changed to look like the old Shea scoreboard, the players were on the jumbotron as old style baseball cards, including a Pete Alonso rookie card. They also played a lot of music from the 60's so that was fun. Can't wait til the celebration tomorrow, hope the rain hold off!

Janet, that is the best silver lining ever.I've been a fan since 1962, and the 1969 Mets and what they accomplished .will always be the highest of highlights for me anyway. This season is shot, I'm just going from game to game and watching the young guys like Rosario, McNeil, Conforto and Alonso develop. Our offense on a team with good pitching would be right near the top.My guess is Callaway is gone after the All Star break.Never liked him right from the start. He is so calm but when he blows, you get a situation like what happened to that reporter. He's got to take the fall for the teams bad record.

WOOOHOOOO the mighty Yankees go down! In this miserable season, this game is a welcome change! DMAN, if our pitching would be consistent we can beat the best!

Wow, two NY teams in playoff contention and the Yankee and Mets threads are dead as doornails.
Amazing comeback last night! We are solidly in the wild card race after being 10 games or so out last month. This is the time to get hot with 6 weeks left in the regular season.Interesting trade for Joe Panik.Guess they wanted to replace Cano, he's done for this year, maybe for good.Glad they kept Wheeler and Syndegaard.

THERE'S My Met Fan Pal Janet!! Wooohoo that must have been AMAZING!
Lets'ride this as far as it will go Janet.Sorry to go "Glory Days" here but that game last night so reminds me of July or August 1969 at Shea where the Mets beat the Cubs in the ninth inning.Shea was rocking you could feel it move and they said you could hear the screaming a mile away, lol.Me and a Buddy went that day in his 1962 Chevy Nova.
So glad to see the excitement back!

Wow, what a game and what a run. We've got the starting pitching to make a run at the playoffs and the hitting is now looking good.

Calloway lost both of those games.Wheeler was not sharp at all and should have been pulled while it was still 3 to 1.The second game Lugo was pounded but Calloway just sat there. These are crucial games, now we went from tied for a wild card to 3 games out.
Anyway, I was skeptical of that great run we had because it was against poor teams. The loss of McNeil really screws things up.Think we hit our high water mark for this year right after the Nationals Series but I will still hang in there.

LOL, Math23X7, good to hear from you.I hope all is well in your life.
Yes, I agree, Diaz has been a huge disappointment and I feel bad for Calloway because Diaz was the go to guy last year.

Great outing by Degrom ruined by terrible hitting by the middle of the lineup. The Mets had several chances of winning the game and should have won.

When you can't beat the division leader, it exposes the weaknesses of your team.Amazingly, still 2 games behind the second wild card. The Nats are tearing it up right now and helping us by beating the Cubs again.

Watched the Cubs game.Same old same old.Men stranded on base.Anyway, the highlight was Pete Alonso breaking the Met home run record. This is amazing for a youngster his age much less a seasoned player.Rosario, Conforto,Alonso and McNeil are a good core of youngsters to build around for next year.

yep, same old, same old. They were within 2 games in the wildcard with about 30 games left and they are going to make us suffer til the end..... I tjink the youngsters are pressing, they need to relax.

Janet, it's starting to remind me of the classic fades in 2007 and 2008 when we had a much better hitting team. They have got to turn this around now and win the next two from the Cubs to stay in this.

Perfect Math!
The high water mark for this season was being one game out of the second wild card.I was suspicious of that since they had beaten up three weak teams to get that far. They have played two strong clubs and have failed miserably.
There are some bright spots, Alonso, Conforto,Rosario, McNeil, De Grom but they need help in a closer and set up guys.Fire the hitting coach after this miserable hitting stretch as well.Don't like the manager, but I would give him another year.
Best we can do now is to be spoilers and I'll be watching for that reason and to see how the young guys do.Alonso has an outside shot at 50 HR's.His 42 are an outstanding feat.
