Un-favorable MJO phase is one of the reasons why for the mild spell this upcoming week...

Looks like the MJO will collapse back into the COD and perhaps back into unfavorable territory in the far future. It just does not want to set up well for snow and prolonged cold on the East Coast the way this looks.

Temps in the 40's and maybe 50's all week. How fun...

It seems like temps are getting higher than forecasted. Already 46 degrees in Newark

I wouldn't say yuck, hey, if there's no storms that may produce snow and it's going to be a train of GLCs, I'm fine with the warm weather. I'd be annoyed if I had a snowpack but lol, nope.

Agreed.I'd rather have 2 inches of rain than a slop storm where I have to shovel cement.Of course, a 20 inch blizzard with easy, powdery snow to shovel is the best alternative of all! Let's see if these future model runs indicating a pattern change to much colder weather pan out.

OK, nice forecast for NNJ.Mild, so the heating bill will be less and no shoveling!

Still some snow in patches around here.It'll disappear quick with this forecast.

Just got back this AM from Monroe NY HV.Very cold, ice on the side roads from snow melt re-freezing.Still a good six inch snowpack up there.Here in Mahwah NNJ, some snow patches around but going fast.

For those interested in the rain event coming tonight it looks like in general the entire area will receive between 0.25-0.5" of rain. For the most part it looks to be mostly a light-moderate rain event with maybe a small amount of freezing rain/ice at the start in the extreme NW NJ area/Northern HV. Watching Amy Freeze on channel 7 last night they seem to think that the rain will be mostly over by the early morning. I personally think showers will linger into the very early afternoon; esp from the NYC and points east out on LI. That's all I'm going to say about this because if I am being quite honest a little cold rain does nothing for me..lol

Light sprinkles on and off started around 12:30 in NNJ.Ground getting wet.

What a nasty day. Dreary...fog...damp...
