I recorded about 2/3rds of an inch (0.64 to be exact) in Kenilworth NJ, been a while since we had a nice soaking like this

I estimated half an inch, close enough I guess. That was a pretty impressive downpour and we sure needed it.

Overall, a terrible 2nd half of convection season. It was pretty good from mid June through July here, but since the end of July we've had virtually no T-storms.

Fall usually is the most benign time of year weather wise, though we can begin to see some coastal storms / nor'easters in October, which would be a favorable sign for the winter. I'm starting to crave one of those 45 degree cold nor'easters, get the fire going, etc. Once into winter I hate rainstorms, but I like them in the autumn to "set the mood" if you will.

Yea, I actually did good this summer with AC, with the exception of a few days here and there where I had to keep it going. I need to invest in a good window fan. Sometimes it can be cool out and I get no breeze on the top floor.

Very chilly when I left the house at 3:00am to head to work. It was 41* with clear skies and calm winds. Frank I've got to tell you, those birds flying around in your posts are pretty neat. But I'm getting dizzy watching them flying in circles. drunken

Good to be back Mugs. The shoulder is doing good ,but theres only one problem. Now I tore my left shoulders rotator cuff. I was suppose to have it repaired on August 8th ,but my company said if I didn't return to work I would be terminated. So now I have to work 8 month to have enough hours to go back out and get it repaired. But in the mean time I'm doing more damage to it. The doctor is not too happy about all of this, but what can you do. It's better than being unemployed. I guess from the map you posted it's time to put the summer stuff away and prepare for winter. Frank, I didn't listen I click on them. Plus now they go up and down the page when I scroll. I feel like I'm in the Alfred Hitchcock movie classic The Birds. affraid

Snow, if you look really close you'll see those birds pooping on your post!

Sorry about that shoulder, my man.At my age, 63, you come to the realization that pain is now a daily part of your life.Try Ibuprofen, works great for me to relieve it temporarily.

As far as observations, looks like another extended dry spell. That rain yesterday , albeit not much, was welcome around here.

Won't be long now Mako.I've seen flurries around these parts as early as mid-October so we are rounding the 3/4 turn. The lack of any meaningful tropical development this season slowed it down as well.Just dry and normal temperatures for weeks on end.Nice to be outside but BLAH in the weather interest department.

Hey, they have the pumpkins out for sale at a lot of places.Remember that "frost on the pumpkin" line,LOL!

t week. I'll be busy these next few days. Not much to report. Temps the next couple of mornings will be in the upper 40's to low 50's. We will get between 78-83 degrees on Sunday, then another cool down early next behind a cold front, which could bring some rain Monday night.

It got down to 41* this morning. My official report is 41* clear skies, calm winds and no bears, yet. Went to Doc last Thursday, he gave me a cortisone shot. Seems to be working pretty well. So that's what's on my computer screen, bird poop, just great. I knew I shouldn've click on those birds.

Good morning Mugs. The Doc usually gives me 2 shots in two different spots on my shoulder. Unfortunately this is the fourth set of shots I've had since April. They only seem to last 3-4 weeks at most. He(Doc) really wants me to have surgery asap, but I have to put the required hours in at my job to go back out and have it done. Otherwise it's termination for me. I will try to post pictures of the bears if I can figure out how to do so. I'm not a real techie kind of person. I just know the very basics. In my area their saying it will go down into the low 40's tonight. I'll keep ypou posted.

Judging  by that map, Europe is stealing all the rain from us.

And check out the tidbit about Antarctic sea ice.

Don't know if anyone read what I put like 3 weeks ago or so, but it mentioned the expansion of the arctic. And that the North Pole sea ice expanded larger than anyone had expected.

Not a whole lot going on (refer to my post in the long range thread). Our coolest day of the week will probably be on Tuesday behind the front, with temps in the lower 70's most likely.

EURO Temps

September 2014 Observations and Discussion - Page 5 Tuesday_temps

Then it will be a gradual warm-up from Wednesday into the weekend, probably getting near 80 degrees on Saturday.

Looks like a ELI special from the Euro last night - something to keep an eye on (?) - on shore flow too. CMC called this last week but we know how bad it is in the long range. See what  the other models show toady for this.
