Some storm heading for the Great Lakes. Waves of 18 to 26 feet on Lake Superior and 8 and 14 feet on Lake Michigan. Dag!...

Funny that I just heard "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" on XM yesterday.

Re: September 2014 Observations and Discussion
Some rain tomorrow night. Probably to start between 7-10pm into the overnight hours. Not a whole lot.
Then we may not see any measurable precip until the end of the month (shower possible on Tuesday)
Hey, better to get red of this dry pattern now then have it come in the winter.

frank looks like tues could be a more significant rain than sat. here is nws disco... CHANGES IN THE LONG TERM WITH THIS AFTERNOON`S UPDATE INCLUDE LOWER
TEMPS AND FOCUS PCPN ON TUESDAY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS ON SAT LOOK TO BE A 1/4 INCH OR LESS...THEN ON
TUESDAY 1/4 TO 3/4 INCH IS POSSIBLE. with some cooler air to work with we may get some lows to form and give us a more wide spread event rather than the hit and miss t/storms

Re: September 2014 Observations and Discussion
Dry spell continues, not seeing any decent precip in the next week, very light if any today and maybe a little Monday night, but I'm not holding my breath. The last 2 chances we had passed us by....

Re: September 2014 Observations and Discussion
As noted earlier this week, the mornings this weekend have given us our first taste of fall with temps in the 50's...40's in some locations. It feels great!
Looking at 70's this week with lows in the 50's. Chance of rain on Tuesday

Re: September 2014 Observations and Discussion
I wonder if we can predict the weather based on that information for the rest of the month or is it solid already and only meteorologist can do that?
Atmospheric pressure is closely related to weather. Regions of pressure that are slightly higher or slightly lower than the mean atmospheric pressure develop as air circulates around Earth. The air rushes from regions of high pressure to low pressure, causing winds. The properties of the moving air (cool or warm, dry or humid) will determine the weather for the areas through which it passes. Knowing the location of high and low pressure areas is vital to weather forecasting, which is why they are shown on the weather maps printed in newspapers and shown on television.

Welcome to the forum!
That paragraph explains how weather is forecasted, but anyone can do it if you have access to the right tools. Weather models are most often used to accomplish this, which you can find on the top menu bar of the forum.

Any chance the crazy heat out west gives us a warm up ? 5 days out looks to be in the 80s again. I'm not turning the AC back on.

I estimated half an inch, close enough I guess. That was a pretty impressive downpour and we sure needed it.
