Absolutely right about excuses,Frank.Nats manager arranged that pitching schedule so it's on him.

This is why I love baseball so much, it is absolutely no BS.You have it or you don't, no quotas,no affirmative action. If you can't hit a 95 MPH fastball with consistency, back to the minors you go.

Harper better get more BP and work with the hitting coaches before pissing and moaning about opposing pitchers.

"They haven't seen Scherzer since Day 1"

Actually the Mets faced Scherzer on May 1st at Citi Field.  He pitched seven innings and gave up 1 run that night.  Matt Harvey pitched for the Mets that night and pitched seven scoreless innings.  Scherzer left the game trailing 1-0 and the Mets won the game 5-0.  So besides April 6th ("Day 1"), he pitched that game.  By the way, Scherzer is 0-2 against the Mets in 2015.

Thanks, Math, for digging that out.

I think Scherzer is on the decline anyway, this 0-2 record against our weak hitting team (at those times) proves it.He should have shut us out over 8 plus innings each game.

This is exactly what must be done for playoff baseball....stomp on the weak teams.

Yep, Colon still has it and now he has some power behind him.Nice to see the kids Conforto and D'Arnaud clicking in.

They have a pretty decent schedule this month too, Miami, Philly, Colorado, Tampa Bay, Boston, Baltimore and Pittsburgh. They should do well.

Mets win their 5th in a row ( 5-1 ). Niese pitched a great game. He has been pitching pretty well this season. Big hit from Campbell, Lagares and Granderson. Mets are now 57-50. Nats won so the Mets are still 1 game in first. After the game, the Mets DFA Alex Torres and signed LHP Eric O Flaherty from the A's.

Mets win a really close game 8-6. Marlins scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 9th but the Mets held on and won their 6 straight. Harvey pitched a great game. Mets are now 58-50. Nats lost,so the Mets are now 2 games up.

Mets 2015 Season - Page 16 Empty Re: Mets 2015 Season

Post by docstox12 Thu Aug 06, 2015 6:26 am

At this juncture, I'd hate to be in Collins' shoes. He had mentioned that the youngsters Harvey, De Grom and Syndegaard are on a tight leash on innings pitched this year and a Nats 2012 Strasberg shutdown may be in the offing for them. That's why he shut down Harvey after 7 last night.

Problem with that is, the bullpen is shaky. Why? Well.....

1)Parnell-Sucks and always will.Doesn't even have his good cheddar anymore, relies on control
2) O Flaherty-Looks like O'Bumbling to me.Prado the righty, hung him out to dry and even the lefty got s base hit.Ummm...he is supposed to be a lefty specialist.Sorry, Clippard, you gave management a bum steer on this guy.
3)Robles-Just ROTTEN.I saw him give up a grand salami in that awful San Diego game last week and last night he gives up a three run double. He SUCKS!!!!!!
4)Familia-Shaky.Can't get his sinker sinking right.

Collins can't let the youngsters go to deep and must rely on these clowns.

Matz becomes pivotal. If he comes back and Niese and Colon hold up, maybe he can juggle the innings of the youngsters.

PLUS, the white hot spotlight is on Collins to come across this year....or ELSE.

Yep, would'nt want to be in his shoes,LOL!

What a win. Mets came back 3 times to win. Flores with the winning hit yet again. He has been great since crying on the field lol. Mets are now 59-50 and have won 7 in a row. Also, they are now 2.5 games in first.

It's been a long, long time since the Mets put up this kind of play.Agree 100% with Dunz and Snow, this was a game that sowed the character of the team, never say die.

Great to see the kids Conforto and Flores come across for the win. We're hitting on all eight cylinders right now.

Great news. Cuddy is also coming back tomorrow. Heard that Conforto is going to get sent down. I say leave him up here and use Cuddy as an expensive bench player lol

LOL, they are stuck with Cuddy's salary and his past numbers are good so the kid goes back down, which is a shame.Conforto is the future and he has great hitting potential.Sending him down will keep the kid sharp and I would not be surprised to see Cuddyer injured again considering his age, so we may see Conforto play again.

Tough loss last night. Noah didn't have his stuff. This was his worst outing this season. Time to bounce back today but it will not be easy with Chris Archer on the mound for the Rays.

Nobody's perfect and the kid was due for a stinker.

Bounce back win would be nice. These Rays a good team but right now Toronto is red hot with the great pieces they picked up.I wouldn't want to be playing them right now.
