Re: Mets 2015 Season
NOW we're talkin' here.Offensive explosion led by Duda.Noah pitched great and the hitting bailed out a shaky bullpen.Parnell?....UGH!

Is that Mooooooookie? Actually Lenny Dykstra was one of my favorite players as a kid from those 86 Mets. Although I am a Yankee fan through and through I wore that number 4 for my entire sports carreer.

Loved Mookie. Was at Shea once and saw him stretch a single into a triple. To see him run was amazing.I think he was the guy who hit the ball in the now infamous Bill Buckner choke.I know you Yankee Fans hate us but you must have been happy to see Boston go down in '86 when they clearly won that Series.
Doc, Dykstra had an incredible run that year.Loved watching him at the plate, a complete jitterbug.Once he was on first, he drove the pitcher crazy. What a shame he got himself into a jam.Anyhoo, he is enshrined in Mets history as a clutch player and part of a World Series team.

If the Mets make the playoffs then crap out, I'm rooting for the Cubs all the way.Talk about the "Babe Ruth curse of Boston",LOL! Madden is a top shelf manager who has done a great job over there.

I absolutely loved that they beat the Red Sux. My mom is a Mets fan and me and my father are die hard Yanks. The fact that the mets were up against our arch rivals was a way for our household to be unified, if only for a short time. For that World Series, and that World Series only , I was a Met. Fan.

Re: Mets 2015 Season
Doc, I guess Dad slept on the couch a few days in 2000 after the Yanks beat the Mets in the Series LOL!
My parents were NY Giant Fans from the 1930's.Because they and the Dodgers left in '58, I was allowed to watch the Yanks in '60 and '61 until the Mets came in '62 bringing NL Baseball back to NY.
Ask any old timers from the 50's and you will get diehard Dodger, Giant or Yankee Fans and they all HATED each other with a passion (not the people, just the team).
To your Mom....LGM!!!!!!!!

Re: Mets 2015 Season
FYI, there are rain showers approaching Cincinnati from the southeast that could arrive at Great American Ball Park within the next hour or so that may trigger a rain delay. Here is the radar with the direction of the rain showers with the pink pushpin representing Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati:
The only thing that would make sense would be if it happened right after Harvey reaches his inning count so that the opposing pitcher would out of the game as well.
The Mets magic number is 1. I want them to clinch it today!

Re: Mets 2015 Season
I will not be as classy or as disingenuous as Bryce Harper.
I can't stand the Mets and I hope they lose in the first round in three games.
With that said their young pitching is the envy of all of baseball and with that staff and the temporary hitting pieces they added the Mets have as good a chance as any team to win the whole thing.
Now let me concentrate on getting my beloved Yankees to the playoffs and hopefully past the wild card game if they can accomplish that then anything can happen.

Re: Mets 2015 Season
Well, CP, I hate the entire American league and I could care less if the Yanks win or lose.I'll root for the National League team to beat the Yanks if they make the Series and we don't.Kind of like Diamondbacks in 2001 when Rivera choked and the Marlins in 2003 when Beckett ,the Yankee Killer did his thing.
The pressure is on Yanks! Remember, anything less than a World Series win is a failed season!!!! You better win your division like we did or face elimination in one game!

Mets are 1.5 games ahead of the Dodgers now for home field advantage =)
Harper and Papelbum had a fight in the dugout. The Nats went downhill after papelbum joined the team.

I like home field advantage, but if we didn't they would advance at a home game, games 3 or 4.... would like to see that than win it on the road...

Nats have never recovered after they shut down Strasburg eliminating their series chances that year. This team suffers from a weak manager plus they had some significant injuries early on.

Re: Mets 2015 Season
Keith was right last night, Collins has to go into that clubhouse and say "Hey Guys, time to cut the crap!".Last night was the worst game of the season quality of play wise.We have a chance to win home field advantage here.LGM
Dodgers have a great one two combo with Kershaw and Grienke. They are tough, tough pitchers.Cardinals clinched and the Cubbies and Pirates are in, so there you have it!AL is really a blast with teams fighting for the division and wild cards. Some tough teams over there but won't consider anybody until the AL Champ is crowned.

That game was ugly, I think both teams used 15 pitchers, there were 4 hit batsmen, wild pitches, passed balls.... although there were some stellar plays made as well. They switched pitchers so many times the game was over 4 hours.... and Parnell has to go.

Parnell sucked when he had that blazing fastball.I have seen him lose too many games.Hope they get rid of him next season.
Yes, Conforto and Kirk made some great plays out there and the only good news last night is Cespedes did not break any bones.Losing him would have eliminated us in the first playoff round.

The Mets have lost their last five, including a day night double header, which included getting no hit AND they lose home field advantage in the NLDS.

Re: Mets 2015 Season
Talk about 'limping' into the playoffs.I don't think they start until next Friday (?) so even if they were playing razor sharp, they would lose it after all that time.Let's hope the rest gets their heads in the right place. This round of the playoffs is 3 out of 5 so they could quickly be down two with Griencke and Kershaw pitching. They might get past the Dodgers as the year's record of both teams are close, but then, good luck with the Cards, Cubs or Pirates as their records blow us away.We played poorly against the Cubs and Pirates all year.
I hope I'm wrong but frankly, they still have a lot of work to do to field a World Series calibre team.Anyhoo, they won the NL East and made the playoffs.Great progress in a good year. For next year, the starting pitching is solid but we need good 7th and 8th inning men.Clippard and Reed are so-so.We need a good long relief man.We also need a Cespedes type hitter who can CONSISTENTLY hit .300, 100 plus RBI and 30 plus home runs.Get a couple of guys like that, and we will be World Series bound next year!
