August 2016 Observations & Discussion

Yeah the T'Storm that came through here between 12:45 and 1:15 am was pretty impressive. Lots of thunder and lightning preceded by sone strong wind gusts. All calm now with the Lightning off in the distance to the east.

Storms that came through last night were awesone. Lots of thunder.

Great t-storms here last night lots of crackling loud thunder and lightening. Picked up .12" in my bucket from this.

Euro says BH fights back

Last month I had about 10 inches of rain so far for august .55 of an inch. Everything is Browning up here now I guess the North August is for you.

Our first taste of fall coming early next week with highs 75 - 80 and lows in the fifties and low sixties. Nws disco

No rain yet mostly cloudy with a temp of 82 * the line of shower and storms looks like a lake effect snow band

Very unique setup. We usually don't have 80 degree water either. Look like a FL radar.

Its been sitting just a few miles south/SE of here forever.

1.5"-4" of rain since 12:00 p.m. from the Long Island Expressway north to the sound from Riverhead all the way to NYC. That's what's up  Basically a straight line following the LIE all morning.  1.75" IMBY!!!

it is so strange i am only getting a few sprinkles queens and parts of long island is getting slamed with rain crazy

This was incredible. I was sitting on the sachem soccer fields at my sons soccer tournament watching the clouds build to the north and watch the radar set up. But it all set up over the NS of LI. I've never seen this before. Image of the radar with rain totals. Over 5" in the Stony Brook area!  Greens are above 2" pink abou be 3" and blues above 4". Many 2-5" totals. Incredible Mesoscale set Up. 3 air masses and 4 mesoscale boundaries back door cold front which can be seen over CT. It just didn't move.

What were some of the official rainfall amts from this ? Was 5.28 the most ?

Looks like a nice cool night coming up, mid-upper 50's for most and possibly even upper 40's for some far enough inland.

Yesterday (Monday) featured great weather after a couple a weeks of humid conditions. Of course, it's set to warm up again by the end of the week...

57* dp 48* a lot of 40's in the burbs. nice to see my fellow weather weenies up early in the am. getting ready for our sleepless winter nights.lol

Currently 51* here at 5:30AM. Very nice.
