I've said it before, but it bears repeating: there's something wrong with that state. Lol. I mean just in terms of the weather extremes and the semi-frequent cataclysmic fires and earthquakes. Not for me.

...and you people on here don't agree with me that this would single-handedly be the most frustrating weather event to occur in the history of NYC for snow lovers. 4-5 feet of snow and 60+ MPH winds for 2 days. This would be 1888
If this verifies as rain it will be the greatest ever.......I can't even say it. IT's January 23rd FOR PETES SAKE!!!!!!!
and yes I know it never was supposed to be a wintry event!
I have to agree, but if February ends up being epic it will be forgotten quickly.
It would be fascinating to see 4-5 feet of snow in NYC borough wide and have Central Park record 27.4 inches. Maybe that's what it will take to finally wake everyone up.
As CP said. It would totally suck if this were IT. Hopefully Feb is cold and record breaking snow. Book is still open. But shiit this winter is so far boring
If we get 3-4" of rain and gusts of 50-60mph from this storm on the 23rd, I don't know about you guys, but i may need therapy

LOL, you guys are cracking me up on this big rainstorm.yep, it's frustrating but look at it this way. This area has been suffering from a drought situation and this storm could really put a big dent in that.ALSO, from reading posts on our board in years past, these kind of storms set the table for major changes that promote snowstorms.Glass half full, peeps!

They are seeing the glass as half full. They're just not happy with it being half full of rain.

UMM yeah, how about half fully filled with frozen stuff. As I said, the book is still open. If Feb gives us a Godzilla, then this cold rain storm is worth it. However, if we get lots of power outages because of the rain, wind and wet ground, and people are suffering because of no heat, then its just the Weather Gods punishing us for something we did. Maybe they are afraid of and feel challenged by Frank's weather forecasting ability!

I want to explain my board name quickly. Back in '14, I didn't think I'd actually be sticking around here so I just picked a screen name from a computer game character.

I wonder if Len Melisurgo is regular here. He always seems to have a story as soon as there's a buzz in the local weather world. After all the posts today after the GFS and Euro runs, I went over to NJ.com, and there's Len's piece on the weekend storm, just released after noon. He does a nice job explaining the set up in laymen's terms and without hype...

Aresian was one of my character names from Warcraft. I used to be pretty into the game.

I just invited him to join our forum.
If you or anyone else can think of weather reporters who may be interested in joining, please provide me their name and contact information. I'm always willing to extend an invite.

Ya, the chance of that happening to me in the HV is the same as Sophia Vergara ringing my bell and telling me she will love me forever and make mad passionate love.

Looking at the convection around the date line it looks very unimpressive even though we're in a pretty Amplified mjo state right now. I always thought when the mjo is Amplified there would be convection firing in a location in conection with whichever phase. Could be wrong though but tropical convection looks rather week this morning

Or maybe this.
As Perry White would say in the old Superman TV Show, "Great Caesar's Ghost!". That second one is beyond belief! No human could possibly live through THAT scenario.
