January 7, 2017 Storm Observations

Up to 2.3 inches now and the steady light to occasionally moderate snow continues.

2.5 covers the front lawn completely so hoping for those last .2 inches.

Also 8" in Bayville (Coastal Ocean County). What a blessed day...snowed HARD all day! No dry sockets, no mixing, just pure fluffy snow for over 12 hours...

Remember when the GFS had a big snowstorm for our area on the 0z Tuesday run this week?

Of course the GFS couldn't keep that same solution. The models always does this with coastals. Last to the party.

Getting lighter here but still going....

8.5" 15 minutes ago, but getting difficult to measure now as the wind picks up. ratios must be ridiculous as its like baby powder out there with big flakes that pile up quick. Real low water content. I bet I haven't even received .5" qpf.

Anyway back edge appears to be near Staten Island. Returns over Jersey and N of NYC shrinking in intensity. Maybe another hour and a half here. Intensity lightening up. Going to be a race to get to double digits. I think I come up just short. Great storm!!

Looks like Belleville is going to end up just shy of 5 inches. Last few flakes seem to be floating down now.

Still snowing lightly here even with nothing showing on radar.

I know its hard to measure with blowing snow but its snowing really hard now. So maybe in the morning I can give you a more accurate measure. Its coming down hard right now

A norlun setting g up here if so nyc metro and swing,pivot the precip would could in fir a few hours more.

LI may have a huge 1" hr band ready to swig through there if it keeps pivoting g which it lol to do.

Just got back from Philly through South Jersey. The road conditions -- while not he worst I've experienced -- were . . . not great. What is usually a 1.5 hour trip took about 3 hours. Anyway, was pleased to see a beautiful coat of white on my house and in my yard upon my arrival home.  I didn't do a super accurate job of measuring due to the late hour and my desire to be inside after 3 hours in a car, but it appears to be about 3". Looks wonderful, I'll take it. Currently 21* and cloudy, with a scattered flurry here or there.  As for South Jersey, here's a picture I took in Cherry Hill where I dropped my friend off before heading home:

Radar is really fight this off and mod to heavy snow for a while NE NJ, NYC Metro to ELI and Norther Jersey coast it looks like peeps 2 hours left if so HRRR_PRECIPTYPE_NE_F9.PNG nailed this sucker

Well a normal 20 min drive.
took us an hour when we left house we had 7 inches Marlboro has 8 right now and still lightly snowing it's currently 18 degrees..To my SIL surprise we brought dogs and stuff to sleep over...Lol..My niece got in safe from Portland...Party time

Agreed!! Great day, no mixing, no worry about R/S line just sit back watch the radar fill in and enjoy snow from sun up to sun down!!

Just wokee from a nap was surprised to it still snowing, windy. once it stops ill go measure but im not sure how accurate it can be blowing around.

CALLING CP! CALLING CP!!! Emergency. As of 4 PM, CPK had measured 4.3" of snow. As of 7 PM, they have 5.0", just 0.7" more than three hours earlier. In that time span, 0.11" qpf fell. In that same span, LGA had 1.7", EWR had 1.5" and JFK had 1.9". But only 0.7" for CPK with this kind of ratio?????????

5.3" of snow at home season total now 10 inches. That's probably what Scott got today. Still snowing by the way light but steady.

the back building will give 11.9" hahahaha!!

About 6 inches and still snowing a little, ill check NWS tomorrow to see how it compares, not bad...I knew we would get a decent storm all along hehe
